Check my thread in HO..."Yampa Valley Railroad".  We want to model what we know best. But instead of a working cattle ranch, it will be a "dude" ranch.  We only have horses now.  We'd like log houses, like the "Ponderosa", but not much chance of finding those.

Your "Gage"  resembles tin,  here in the mountains  ranch buildings have metal roofs (Pro Panel ) because of all the snow, maybe after you see the scenery descripitons on the track plan, you might have some thoughts or advice.

I remember the sway back track side you built last year, always eager to see your creations.   If my tired old eyes don't deceive me, I detect a bit of roof crinkling on your new one, nice touches.

Don't want to horn in on your post, so will get out of here.

Thanks
Bob

What a kick! Another job for the "Chrome Shop Mafia".

That would sober up the drunk drivers pretty quick, and make them dry out.

Jack

I read that site many times when I was starting out.  Thanks for refreshing the link.

Hi Kyle
As usual, outstanding craftsmanship.  I may hire you to build my ranch theme.

What did you use for the siding and roof? If it's Evergreen, would appreciate the part numbers.  Most of my buildings will be lap/clapboard and metal roofs.

It was worth waiting for (oh my aching dialup) LOL

I have several box cars that could use some weathering.  Anything would be a big improvement, even if I mess them up  LOL  A friend is sending me an extra weathering kit, so will get some practice.

HO / Re: HO Scale - Decoder-Equipped Turnouts
February 13, 2008, 03:49:01 AM
Congratulations!

I just started model railroading a year ago. It was perfect timing, all my locos are DCC equipped.  Two of my turnouts are hard to reach, so those will definitely be switched to decoders at some point

Beautiful locos, thanks for sharing them.

The "waddle like a duck" might be opposing drive wheels out of "quarter".  I had one doing that and had to give the wheels a little twist.  Right wheel should "lead" the left by 90 degrees,  and all wheels quartered the same, the latter being the most important.

Very nice!
They look very natural.  If I could weather like that I might try it myself.

If it's a manual table, you don't have to do anything as long as it indexes well and the TT tracks make electrical contact with the lead tracks.  Forward and reverse are decoder functions,  forward in, turn it around, forward out. Of course if you want to turn it around then back into the house, you have to hit reverse.

First, "gang" the 4 slide switches together, they have male lugs on one side, female on the other.  Run the two wire plug from the AC terminals on your controller to the number one switch on the left.  (the two male lugs) When you say the two wire set has  "plugs on each end" , do you mean it has 2 spade terminals on one end and a female plug on the other?  If so then you have the right wire set.

The turnouts have 3 wire cables to plug into each slide switch.

To activate the turnout, move the slide switch to one side and push down momentarily, don't hold it down.  If a switch direction doesn't match the desired turnout  direction, turn the 3 wire plug over.

Look it over again, if you have more questions, come back and ask.

On second thought, I don't feel right posting the picture and setting a precedent.  How about I just say contact me off forum for some free stuff I don't need?  Oops, guess I just said it LOL.....I won't pursue it further, feel free to delete this post if you want.  I hate throwing good stuff away if someone else can use it.

Emmet:
If you don't like Bachmann, then why did you join this board?  With your attitude, your longevity as a member is questionable, and hopefully brief.

It's interesting to note that the only capital letter in your post is  "I".   Perhaps that is your problem.

During the Ebay Christmas season, we won Bachmann GE 70s at $18 to $22 with $8 shipping.  from you know who.  This didn't detract from the "value" of the product in my mind.  I don't care if he made a profit or not, or what his purchasing strategies are, that's his business.  When you consider his "Buy it now" is $30, I think he did ok.

After the season, there were no more listings on the 70.  Perhaps the offerings were his way of spreading a little Christmas cheer in appreciation for his success.

When a store owner says to me "I really appreciate your business", you can be sure I'll return.  Many of the store personnel haven't been taught to just say "Thank you".
When I say "You're welcome" anyway I get a dumb stare.

I was President of the Chamber of Commerce in the Kansas City Area for 2 terms.  I always preached "If you don't take care of your customers, someone else will"   I also believe that, within reasonable limits, "The customer is always right".
