HO / Niagra 4-8-4 UP Greyhound
November 27, 2008, 01:04:31 PM
Dear Board,
I have the Bachmann Overland Limited engine, which is Standard line.  Is this the same as the Niagra as the install at TCS site?  I am looking for installation pictures.  Thanksgiving break is a good time to spend on this....

Thanks for the help!!

HO / Re: Removing lettering from Spectrum 4-6-0

Nevin,
I have re-lettered several Bachmann locos, and most; I just repaint the area in engine black.  I re-clear coated the area, apply decals and dull coat the entire unit
Everyone is correct...  GO SLOW.  When re-painting these beautiful engines, or toughing up.

Bachmann Spectrum locos are SUPERB, and the painting is fantastic!!

I would like to thank you all for the responses.  Yes, it is the  0-6-0 w/tender.  I have 2 of these engines, and hate to get rid of them.....
I DID convert the Spectrum 0-6-0t.  I was intimidated until I did! (I also wish I could get another one...  HINT, HINT...Mr. B)
I want to "Practice" the decoder install on these.
I was NOT happy when I bought the GN 0-6-0 DCC ON Board engine.  I do not like having a HUGE decoder sticking out of the cab. Therefore, I will replace it and install a DZ125 inside the unit.  I am sure it will void the warranty,  but I have been asked "What's that?" when I had company over....(Meaning the decoder)

I just hate to tear into a running DCC engine.  I just remember the saying, (If is AIN't broke...."
I may just take apart the GN 0-6-0, and see how Bachmann did it.  It IS the same engine....
Thanks again.
Remember I proper Engineer..Always fills his plate 2 times on Thanksgiving!

Dear Board,
I know that I have seen the instructions for installing a decoder, (and pictures) for this engine.  I just cannot find it.  I thought about taking the DCC-ON-Board one apart, (that I also own)  to see how Bachmann did it, but this might void the warranty....
Does anyone know where the these instructions are?
Thanks for the help.

General Discussion / Customer service....

Dear Mr. B.
I recently inquired about the price for leading and trailing trucks for the 0-6-0.  I went through the Order Parts section on this site.  I DID receive parts in the mail yesterday.  The only problem, is that I asked for INFORMATION, and then would have decided to purchase the items; or not.  I have sent payment for the items, as I may have made the mistake...  My biggest concern, is that I was charged $5.00 shipping, when the price marked on the box was $1.68!!!

HO / #6 Switch
November 15, 2008, 11:12:48 PM
Dear Board,
I have 30 engines that have no problem running on my layout.  BUT, my 0-6-0's ALL stop on my #6 customline turnout.  They run through the switch unless the engine is going slow..  Then nothing.  This is the only #6 on my pike.  My Spectrum 0-6-0t will stop on the switch, no matter what speed. :(

Any suggestions...  I would rather not replace the switch with an #4, or a#8, as I will have to redo all the tracks and scenery in the area.
Thanks,
Lee

Tony,
I originally put shrink tubing on the wire where it meets the "Plug" area.  This makes it stronger.  (I used red)  I have youth from church that come over from time to time, and the can be very "Excited" while handling the throttle!
I also had to join several of the original cords together, since it was not available as an open purchase....?

HO / 0-6-0 to 2-6-2 conversion
November 08, 2008, 03:00:26 PM
Dear Board,
I have the Bachmann Standard 0-6-0 DCC ON BOARD loco (I actually have 2).  I would like to convert 1 to a 2-6-2, or even a 0-6-2, or a variation of this...

Does anyone know the part numbers for their standard 2-6-2's that Bachmann use to sell?  If not Bachmann, what parts do you recommend that would be used?

Thanks for the help.

PS:  I would be willing to purchase any that are available on this board, if any are available.

HO / Re: Which Bachmann HO locos have RP25 wheelsets?
October 31, 2008, 05:48:08 PM
I do own the loco you have pictured.  It ran fine on my layout, so I think it has RP-25 wheels.  The Loco had a front truck issue that Bachmann fixed for me.  Be advised it is not one of Bachmann's best, tho.

PN,
I try and store all my engines in a horizontal position,(like they are sitting on a track), to keep the lubricants from running along the sides of the engines.  They will reek havick on the finish.

It is a shame to put up those fantastic units!

Dear Bachmann,

THANK YOU!!!  For a fantastic engine!!  I just finished installing a DZ125 decoder into this engine, and it runs GREAT!!

I was so intimidated having to solder onto the small board that is in this unit, but all is well!!

It took me 15 minutes to have this beauty ready to work the yard....

Thanks to all who have inspired me to tackle this project.  (Whether they knew they did or not)

Again, thanks for a superb engine!!

Thanks for the replies.  I have the PBF on the conversion to DCC, I just wanted to make sure that I could just "pop off" the pins, without hurting the board!!

Thanks again for the help.

Here I GO.....

I hope my hands will be steady!!!
