Pick-up and some other part of the drive train may be the source. If pick-up source, the conductive lube may help.

Also visit a model train store, club or a friend with a DCC unit capable of programming and experiment with different values in CV 2, Starting Voltage, (Range 0 â€" 31). The value you leave in CV 2 will be what the decoder uses when you control the locomotive with the Bachmann Command Control Center unit.

To find out ---- start with a CV reset to their factory set value. To reset the CVs on a Bachmann decoder, write a value of 8 to CV8 using a unit capable of programming the decoder's CVs.

I disagree with all you post except for the fact one can easily find HO flex track in 3-foot length and the assumption "they" may be thinking of that when recommending the spacing between power feeders.

Seems you have a misconception of some information you have read.  What is the source of the information you wrote?

I will be interested in how dependable is the infrared, timing and range. To date these are key issues with DCC systems using infrared.

Timing -- how long does it take for a command sent before the decoder implements the command; particularly when there are two or more throttles in operation.

Perhaps you may recall from the old board I am one of those who suggest power feeders to each piece of track and not soldering the rail joiners for those building a DCC layout. BUT since you have a layout in place running DCC with out problems,  then you do not need to do anything right now except remove the Bachmann E-Z Command Control Center and properly attach the NCE command station. Expect you will only have problems in future if (when) the rail joiners become an electrical issue, if they ever do, before you build another layout.

Double check your wiring for good connections.

Clean the wheels and place a very small amount of conductive contact lube on the wheel tread and electrical pick-up rub points.

NCE does not now sell sound decoders. Compare SoundTraxx, Digitrax, LokSound and MRC for your requirements.

Did testing and perhaps to Bachmann’s point of view, it is just as well my "stuff" is all on the old board. 

E-Z Command Control Center is compatible with a DCC booster built to conform to NMRA RP-9.1.2  Opto-isolated (Current) Interface.

Seems to me, the I/O port is not Lenz X-Bus protocol as you may read in some sources.

This issue has been covered in a couple of topics.

Bach-man’s decision to date has been to leave DCC at the Topic level. So unless there is an epiphany; you will need to use the Bachmann Board Search feature to group (or find) the DCC posts.

Have yet to see a scale I did not like!

Understanding the scales and track gauges in large scale can be confusing to some. Some folks, NMRA included, use G-Scale for several different scales running on 45mm gauge track.

The electric powered large-scale locomotives commonly found in the USA are produced in different scales but run on the same gauge track. Bachmann manufactures two scale proportions, 1:20.3 and nominal 1:22.5, both run on Gauge 1 (45mm) track.
