I'm really interested in this item, but.....I spoke to Precision Craft today and they say the device only works on Loksound decoders. I spoke with Bob Armitidge (sp?) in parts/service.

He claims it won't access other brands. You say it got into the Tsunami.....have you tried it on any other brand of decoder? Bachmann specifically, I guess.

Last time I asked Mr. Bachmann (politely) to consider changing Plasticville to something else - my message got ditched! Careful what you ask for you might find you are banned.........

Chris

Well, if a simple suggestion like that is enough to have one's self banned, then I think the moderators of this site are a little too uptight. Isn't this forum all about "customer service" ultimately?

There's a grand total of 8 threads in the Plasticville Forum.....if bandwidth and storage space is a problem, why not just relabel it to DCC and Plasticville?.....at least that way things might be easier to find in the future....I doubt we're gonna hit 50-60 pages of threads in that forum.

Try using a thick CA adhesive and reinforce the joint line with a strip of styrene from the inside. The CA will fill any gaps and leave you with a permanent repair that wont shrink and show the seam under the paint.

The probably that the train will jump the track is increased by the square of the number of people watching.

Also by the value of the locomotive and cars. ::)

I understand where you're coming from, and agree.....I just don't want to see the forum turn into a Digitrax troubleshooting manual....know what I mean?

Personally, I own the EZC....I would love to hear how people get around the programming issues and am really thinking about exploring that little I/O port a bit more. Has anyone done any experimenting on these units?

I don't believe for one second that the Bman DC controller or the Bman power booster are the only options, even though the literature says it is. I'm stubborn, if nothing else....lol.

I'm just getting mine going as far as scenery is concerned. Like I said before....I'm a car nut.....so my first attempts may be a bit amateurish. Please feel free to offer tips and ideas.....I'm like a sponge right now soaking up all the new material I am reading.

This is one of the far back corners of my layout. While I still have "belly clearance" I felt I should get these corners attended to first. ;D

The shack is an old plastic kit as is the shed......I am scratchbuilding the fire watch tower and experimenting with photoshop to create the cupola (cabin). I print the walls out and glue them to thin balsa or plywood veneer, then assemble the 4 walls.

Would this be DCC in general, or more geared towards the EZC set by Bmann?

Personally I would like to see it aimed at the EZC user.....there are numerous boards out there for the other DCC systems.

...........as I sit here putting a fresh band-aid on my thumb.....

1: .016" drill bits love the taste of human flesh....thumbs especially.

2: If you have the track nail jar open, you should have a large magnet handy as well. (That would be band-aid #2....lol)

3: A mountain made from Hydrocal and Sculptamold is no better than one made from Plaster-of-Paris and Poly-Filla......it just costs three times more.

Anyone else?

Thanks for the warm welcome Gents.......I feel at home already.

Gene....ya...I remember that tune now.....unfortunately....lol......it should be right here in my record collection....let's see....Styx, Supertramp, Thin Lizzy, The Tubes, U2, Uriah Heep.....nope.....skipped right over that Tyson one....lmao.

Rich.....I did the car thing for 7 years steady in VA....almost to the point of burn-out....I was getting to be a "rivet-counter" with the builds. I specialized in classic funny cars but built damn near anything automotive. With the train layout I can freelance and play around to my heart's content. This time I'm doing a hobby for FUN.

My crowning achievment, though, with the auto building, was winning the Hobbytown USA Fall 2006 National Model Contest. The link to the Hobby Outlook Magazine website is below.

http://magazine.hobbytown.com/0026.html

It was the gift certificate for the win that bought me my HO Climax.

I have found in my years of model building that.....modelling is modelling....instead of drilling .020" holes and installing injector lines, I'm drilling .020" holes and installing handrails.

My biggest learning curve is going to be the weathering.......it's like starting all over again.....you get so used to the shiny wet look paint jobs that I fiond it hard to even picture a weather job in my head. But, like all modelling skills....practice makes perfect.

I'm still finding interesting threads buried pages back.

Build on!!

I have to go with Mr. B here on this one....I have an Aztek as well and absolutely love it. They make single and dual action versions.

I have yet to have anything attack the body or nozzles. This is one from my auto days...all paint...no decals.....all Aztek. ;)

I called this A-Salt1....(Assault 1)....it's a jet powered 1964 Dodge A100 salt flats racer.

Wonder what on old Bachmann F Unit would look like in flames....lmao.

Well....mid 60's I was growing up in Yellowknife....our exposure to music and TV was a bit limited at the time. I can recall getting only 4 hours of TV a night. It was taped by CBC then sent north to be broadcast in a few days from CBC's small station up there. What ever was on, was on. And when the 4 hours was up, well, it was off....lol. Could be in the middle of a hockey game and poof....done.

Radio wasn't much better.......50% of CBC's broadcast back then was in Cree or one of the Inuit dialects. I'll bet I was 10 or 11 before I ever heard real "rock'n'roll".

As for Saskatchewan being Alberta's greatest resource.....lol....I always thought Newfoundland was......85% of them are working in Fort McMurray at the oilsands. :D

I'm sure I'm old enough.....just don't recall that tune.....lol.

As for leaving VA for Alberta....well....let's just say that those are the risks of contract jobs and work visas. Alberta may be colder than you know what, but it's still good to be home.
