HO / Decoder wire colors
December 22, 2008, 08:01:49 PM
Mr. Bachmann,
What are the connections for the Bachmann decoder scolors?  Orange for M+, Black for Motor -, .........

I want to hard wire one of your decoders, but have always used Digitrax.  I looked in Products, for a reference sheet, but did not find a breakdown....

Thanks for the help.

General Discussion / Skewers used for uncoupling?
December 18, 2008, 10:04:31 PM
Dear Board,
I have heard of using skewers to uncouple trains.  I tried, but it seems that I have missed something....  I think the skewers need to be sanded to a particular angle, or something, for this to work.

Has others tried this?  My track is complete, scenery is finished, and do not want to tear it up to use magnets.

Thanks for the help!!

General Discussion / Decoder cover
December 13, 2008, 11:06:54 PM
Dear Mr. Bachmann,
The "cover" material on my bachmann decoder is off of the decoder.  Is this heat shrink by chance?  I re-covered my decoder with black heat shrink tubing.  I hope this will not make the unit overheat.  I did not want to  wrap the decoder in electrical tape, though.
Thanks,
Lee

General Discussion / Re: DCC operation.
December 13, 2008, 10:44:43 PM
Geo,
I also use the EZ-Command system on my 14X22 layout.  I have 34 engines, (only 26 have DCC), that I run from time to time.  I have separated these into 4 "Groups", that I run so as not to MIX programmed numbers.  I have also left the layout operable for DC.  If you use this system, you will love the simplicity of it.
I have been to 2 clubs that have "Other" DCC systems, and they are also good.  The learning curve of the other systems can be frustrating, tho.
Welcome,
Lee

Yampa Bob,
I just found a image on ebay that you may want to look at.  I saved the image and can send it to you, if you want....

pdlethbridge,
There is no ruffled feathers at my end...  I am sorry my post came off that way.  One thing I have started doing is to use Z-scale decoders in all my locos.  There is not much room in most of them!!!

Thanks for the response.

pdlethbridge,
I beg to differ.  I have successfully converted 7 or 8 Athearn Bluebox engines, 2 Mantuas, and an unknown; that "Would not have been worth it", or as others have stated; "From experience, if it is not DCC ready or equipped, don't bother." :P
I cannot afford to replace all 35 of my engines for DCC ready, or equipped units.  Bachmann has successfully converted these SAME engines and re-sold them as a marketable item.

RichG, I will take those engines off your hands.  Just email me off list.  My email is accessable thru this board.
Again, thanks for the help. ;D

Mr. Bachmann,
Since this is the SAME loco that you already sell...  Would you be able to have someone that IS currently converting the 0-6-0's to DC ON BOARD, to take pictures and then post them on your website.  I know you would not for "New" engines that are manufactured as DCC ON BOARD, but these are already on the market, and would not be a trade secret thing....

I would really appreciate it.  If this is not possible, you could sent the pictures to my email.

Or you could just send a email, with questions on prices..  That happened to me.  I paid for the items, but WILL NOT go that route again....

Gene,
Yes this one does not have a plug, so must be older.  It is the Niagra, but I need to make sure it is the same as the one pictured on the TCS site.  I know that it is not Prototype, but am wanting to convert it anyway.

Thanks.

Bob,
That is what visitors are fore'.... :o

What draw bars do you all recommend to replace the current one with?

Thanks!
