Let us know about those Erie F-3's.

I have the Wiliams 72 foot Blue Comet Madison cars would those match with the

F-3's??

Saw the L..... GG1 in Semi scale at the Hobby Shop yesterday and must admit at 15 inches long and however they scaled it it does look really good !!

The WBB is 14 inches and looks "stubby". I do have both the Tuscan and Green 5 stripe.

Anyone have the Aristo CC1's at 14.5 inches?

let us know how you like that ACL GP-30

I was torn between the UP and the ACl but went with UP as we have rolling stock and cabooses to go with it!!!

Did  ACL colour scheme the GP-30 in the famous purple and white??

Happy Easter Everyone!!!!!

Was out of town took 2 of the little ones on yes a train ride. We took AMTRAK into

Chicago spent the day sightseeing rode the Train Back to New Buffalo stayed at  cool

Comfort Inn in St Joe Michigan. I have not rode AMTRAK in a few years it was a great time. The trains are sell outs!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of young people, students, and young families. And yeas Railfans-these guys are great!! They were talking "Rail" stuff the whole time. My kids had a great time these rail fan fellas had great senses of humor.
There were German Exchange students on board who were going to ride the Empire Builder for their Spring Break. I was AMAZED at how much American rail history they knew!!!!  Next adventure is all the way to Port Huron next long weekend.

By the way if you are in New Buffalo michigan "OINKS" is the best ice cream you will ever have big generous scoops and a fun place. Also the I luv Toy Trains shop is across the street!!!!

There was a German/Italian film produced on the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942 called

"STALINGRAD" there are some incredible train scenes. One Noteworthy which was

commented on was the scene where the German Unit depicted in the film is being transported by rail from southern Italy to Russia and when the train enters the tunnel

in Italy it exits a tunnel and it is in a blizzard on the "Eastern Front". I don't want to spoil the film for you you bond with the characters of this unit. My wife had tears in her eyes with this film and still brings it up in conversation occasionally!!!!!!!!!!

Trains magazine a few years ago had the 100 top Train movie's and "The Train" with Bert Lancaster was number one!!!

Also recently saw  the original "How The West Was Won" . There were many train scenes but the best was the shoot out on the "Gold Train" between Marshall George Preppard and Eli Stalingrad movie dated-- but still a good film!!

In the History Channel Series on the building of America there are a couple episodes

dealing with the creation of PRR and NYC and shows Rockefeller for the rat he was

BUT I always keep in mind the "slant" in films today. All these fellas were Sociopathic

in way or another. It seems Van Der Bilt had something of a conscience as he did a lot of philanthropic work.

Enemy at the Gates another STALINGRAD film has a few train scenes especially showing the wounded being evacuated.

Lawrence of Arabia- they blow up a bunch of trains. The thing about the movie the

Train with B. Lancaster they did wreck all those old steamers makes your heart cry.

Well Folks

i bit the bullet and ordered the GP-30

We went with Union Pacific. The ACL was a big contender but maybe some later date.

We have other UP items so that engine will fit right in. Not to mention that sound

system will be a lot of fun and keep the kids busy !!!! I'll give a "impressions"

report when it gets here.

Spring Break starts Thursday and its supposed to arrive Friday and my wife knows \
Joey will be on his best behavior as he gets to open the package if he is good!!!!

Those logs piled up on the flatcar next to the engine, did you cut those yourself??
#222
Thanks Lee

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I don't blame them. Like you said very few units sell to make it worth their while.

That's fine.

There's a lot of talent in this hobby and if someone is good with an airbrush and decals

they can make it happen!!

Also is WBB has scratched, chipped or etc shells they might offer them for sale for the few that want to try their hand

That was very kind of you to take the time to get in the museam and film it and share it

with the rest of us on this forum. I can tell a lot of work went into the restoration and

development of that train station and museam. The collection is priceless!!!

Everyone did a First Class job who was part of that restoration!!  Thanks for the

personalized tour!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey GG-1

Thanks again for the info. Had a change in plans this weekend. My wife couldn't take my daughter and some of the volleyball team to their tournament so I was "volunteered".

When i came home last night I had a chance to study the diagram. I found a grinder bit from my dremel supplies and I think it will do the job nicely!!

I should be able to get to it friday or saturday

Thanks again for the info.
