If you want more than just oval of track --

Click Here for a few 4' by 8' track plans using Bachmann HO E-Z Track.  Perhaps you are going to need to obtain over-the-should help for any layout should you find these beyond your understanding.

Realize you do not have to use all or any of the scenery and structures.

. . .

I am also looking for an inexpensive way to get sound for it. I am running analog DC track power at the present.

Define inexpensive.

Check The Parts, Service and Informations page for the 2-8-0.

Without parts diagram for 11411 you are using ASSUME to use HO BALDWIN 2-8-0 CONSOLIDATION DCC READY - Series 836xx is DCC Ready.

Whoa ... forget above as it is not what I said (I am using voice recognition software).

Use the following,

Locomotive was manufactured DCC Ready with NMRA medium 8-pin socket in tender.  The Bachmann Item # 11411 indicates the locomotive is over 15 years old. Be cautions when buying any locomotive that old particularly a used one.

If HO -  one 15" Radius Curved Track piece  makes up 30 degrees of a circle

6 pieces of 15" Radius Curved Track make half a circle

Realize the radius measurement is measured to centerline of track not to outside edge of its roadbed

A circle of HO E-Z Tack 15" Radius Curved Track is 32" measured to outside of roadbed.

HO / ACS-64 NMRA CV List – CV description
September 09, 2019, 02:23:04 PM
ACS-64 NMRA CV List – CV description omitted

Click Here for the ACS-64 NMRA CV List

For list to be more useful:  Do not need Hex value of CV but do need its factory default decimal value and description.
Sure one can spend time looking up CV description in the NMRA Standards S-9.2.2 but many CVs are decoder manufacturer unique. (Example:  Configuration Variable 129-256, and some others) and require a description.

Maybe the owner reprogrammed the decoder address. Have you tried entering the locomotive number as its address?

Throttle movement would not change engine RPMs sound if address 3 were not the active address.

. . .  the sounds work, the lights work, but it doesn't MOVE. The "engine" throttles up and down . . ..
