Oooh Terry, the E-bay police will come after you. ;D

Not to be nosy or anything, but if you click on the Bachmann Message Board and scroll down to the membership list, you might be able to find Hans e-mail address....if he's a member.  I checked "Hans in China" for you and there is no one listed by that name.  Perhaps he goes by another name?

Yeah Ernie, I know what you mean.  On top of all this just think what the added hour of sunlight will do to the crops!   ;D

Honestly, there was a guy in the Tennessee legislature that voted against daylight savings time becuase he thought it would ruin the crops.  ???

Lanny,

That picture of the Harriman 4-6-2, #652 that Orsonroy posted....is that a bellpare (sp?) smoke box?

Jake,

I believe 70% isopropol alcohol refers to the contents in the bottle itself.  It's 70% alcohol and 30% distilled water...but I will yield this statement to some of our resident chemists if this isn't correct.  You can buy it in any drug store. And let me reaffirm what Gene said..."keep it away from the cylinders and valves."

And the only thing I wanted to do was notify everyone of the time change. :-[

General Discussion / Daylight Savings Time change
March 06, 2007, 11:58:50 AM
For anyone that doesn't know, daylight savings time will change the second Sunday in March.  Back in August of 2005 President Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 into law. Part of this law is a change to how Daylight Savings Time (DST) will be observed beginning in March 2007.  DST used to begin the first Sunday in April and ended the first Sunday in October.  Starting in 2007, DST will begin the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November.

Since many computer applications and systems automatically adjust for DST, they will have to be updated.

Lanny,

I can't seem to picture what a "Harriman" 4-6-2 or 2-8-2 look like.  Could you direct me to a website which may have such pictures? Or, are some of the pictures posted in this thread Harrimans?

Thanks, Bill

Virginian,

Was soldering the LED in a problem?

Good question Mark.  I haven't done so, but it seems a good idea.  Also, if anyone responds, I would like to know what size bulb to replace the original with.

Phil,

I had the same problem as you mentioned. There is an abundance of excess wire in the tender and I pulled out a little extra and ran the drawbar through the midst of the wires.  If I recall, the wires came from the factory below the drawbar and it did tend to lift up the tender.  I did not put any additional weight in the tender although I think that, too, would be a good idea.

Well, since we're all wishing, I would love to see a Spectrum 2-8-2 SY Americanized!  But maybe that's for another poll.

Harold,

I sent you a very positive comment and signed your guest book, but I marked it as private.  I didn't intend to.  I can't seem to figure out how to access the comment and remove the private notation.

General Discussion / Re: Euro or Britrail Passes
March 01, 2007, 09:34:32 AM
Hamish,

That is exactly what we decided to do.  After checking the costs of the respective passes, we would not be in Europe long enough to take advantage of all they offer.  So we are going to by individual tickets 2nd class.

Thanks for your input,
Bill
