HO / K-4 Tender
February 06, 2010, 07:14:33 PM
I just received a new Spectrum K-4  4-6-2. It says it is DCC Ready.

No exploded view and no instructions on how to install the DCC chip. No instructions on even how to open the tender and

gain access to the NMRA plug that is supposed to be inside the tender.

The exploded view on the web site is of no help.

Can some one please help?

Thank you.

I vote for the GG-1.

I have two that are mid 70's vintage DC.

Sure would like to have a DCC.

Does any one know of any problems when installing DCC in the DCC ready K4(BAC 84013).

Space, Opening case, operation, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone heard of any plans for a spectrum DCC/sound version yet?

I wish.  Unless I totally missed it and I have been watching, as of today, Bachmann has not announced a single sound equipped Diesel.

I wish you could get an answer to the quality question.

The smaller sections in the assortment not only do not properly fit  with  NS EZ Track I already have, but don't even fit properly with other sections in the assortment package

I found this item in Caboose Hobbies INC. When will this item be available  at other stores? Where can it be bought on line today, if available?
The item contains 2 each of  .75, 1.00, 1.25, 1.50 and 2.00 E-Z gray track connectors.
Thank You

Dear All,
These are in production, and will ship soon. None have been shipped to date, so, whatever Hawaiiho was looking at, it wasn't this set.
Have fun!

Then, I don't know what I have either.  The track assortment(exactly as described above) was shipped to me on 10-13-2009 by M.B. Klein. It was packed in standard Bachmann Track packing and was printed with the Bachmann stock number 44592.

I found and purchased one of these assortments back in October. I almost wish that I hadn't. The quality control is very poor on the smaller sections, making them almost useless without quite a bit work.

Hopefully, the reason they aren't found much right now, is that Bachmann is attempting to correct the problems.

So the name is a Bachmann misnomer as there was never a UK loco called the "Flying Scot"?

Or is this loco a North American loco?

I looked at the catalogue again. It appears that "Flying Scot" was the name of the set as marketed by Bachmann, much like "Thunderbolt" is a set that is currently offered.

Roger, I also made the logical guess that Joe was referring to and looking for a part for an HO model, not an actual locomotive.  ;D

Joe,

I'm going to make a logical guess that what you are looking for belongs to a Bachmann "Flying Scot" 4-6-0 locomotive that is vintage late 1980's.

I wish for two things. First that I have that HO set and second that I knew of a source for the part. But, sadly, I'm old enough to remember that set and still have a 1986 Bachmann catalogue that shows it.

Sorry, I can't be more help beyond helping confirm you are likely correct in what you are describing.

Also, I remember that several of my Bachmann DCC equipped steam locomotives came supplied with a "dummy plug". When the DCC 8 pin connection is removed and the dummy plug inserted the locomotive could then be operated DC.

I suspect this would work with the J as most of Bachmann DCC units are similarly engineered. Possibly, someone in the group knows for sure.

Coincidence, maybe, maybe not.

Over the last two months I have purchased 9 new pieces of Bachmann rolling stock.

Three had one or more trucks off or partially off when I opened the boxes.

I hope it is just a coincidence.

My apologies. I put that layout together back in May and forgot all about that.

Hope you find that page as helpful as I did.

You might want to do some research before bidding.

Try some place like  MB Klein(Model Train Stuff)
