On30 / Possible New Gearded Locomotive
December 18, 2008, 10:11:50 PM
Hi every-one, I thought that this locomotive looked really good and might make a really great model. It would fit the Bachmann theme as it was a Baldwin catalog locomotive (although only two were made). What does ever-one else think?

I think CP owns Illinois Central---or at least controls it;.  gj
Actualy I'm 99% sure that it is owned by CN.

Yes. If you plan to get any more get the gray roadbed though as it will not rust and stays clean longer.

Just make sure that you get a DC one and not AC as it will damage the trolley.

For any-one not aware, the Unitah and Sumpter Valley mallets were the same locos - they were sold from Unitah to Sumpter Valley who converted them to tender locomotives. In my post I had meant to say the Unitah/Sumpter Valley locos but miss-typed.
I knew this, I just forget to type it.

I would love a mallet. The large scale one is nice but is one of the few locomotives that I would NOT buy, simply because I have no need. However I WOULD BUY SEVERAL  Uintah mallets. Yes I know MMI has announced this locomotive but they have not made it yet so if Bachmann started soon they could beet them to it. For those of you who do not know what it looks like here is a picture.

you need a DCC system to control DCC locos a standard DC controller will not operate a DCC loco.
Not with most locomotives. I run Bachmann DCC locomotives on DC all the time.

The one time I saw it was near Cheyenne. I can't tell what kind of locomotives are pulling it but it gives you the idea.
