For any-one not aware, the Unitah and Sumpter Valley mallets were the same locos - they were sold from Unitah to Sumpter Valley who converted them to tender locomotives. In my post I had meant to say the Unitah/Sumpter Valley locos but miss-typed.

you need a DCC system to control DCC locos a standard DC controller will not operate a DCC loco.
