General Discussion / Re: Some questions
August 22, 2011, 05:35:30 PM
DCC engines can run on anolog, but the throttle needs to be turned up a bit before it starts running because DCC engines require more volatge to start moving, but they'll run at a good speed still.

General Discussion / New York Central mile post help
August 17, 2011, 09:44:21 PM
As some of you may know from a previous post i put about a week or 2 ago, I'm helping repaint a Pennsylvania Railroad caboose. Now, the leader of the project came up to me today and says he wants me to make a mile post... i said alright but then he added that it must be the latest New York Central mile post before the Penn central merger, and must be made of the same thing... must be done when the caboose is done.

So... does anyone have any pictures and have any idea what it would look like? Possibly even how to make one? It just needs to look like it with 196.8 as the mile marker.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!!

jward, That's actually a road slug, its like a cab unit. I see them on the yard transfers that pass through berea around noon on the CSX line, interesting units. Caught a pair being dropped off at collinwood about 3 weekends ago on a mixed freight.

A diesel: BL-2 or slug or cow/calf... funny... they all fit together. Cow/calf is like a switcher companion, which includes a slug of some king, and a BL-2 used slugs! :)

Hey TTFG, nice video your showing, just a heads up sense your new, usuaully we don't allow old topics over 5 months old, but sense you put a decent post that can continue the topic. I personally see nothing wrong with it :)

Other members: this guy is new, don't be yelling at him and try to show him a thing or 2. About the board.

For engines that are baseed off models, ask the original owner what they used. Engines like rosie may need to be kit bashed, which is basically taking parts and putting them on engines. A little research on engines may help with finding models, it also can make the series interesting if you tweak some stuff. I came up with a crazy storyline about a diesel that was a mistake... I don't want to give too much away... but you get my point?  :)

General Discussion / Repainting a caboose
August 08, 2011, 06:58:11 PM
Not an everyday experience but 2 guys and a couple of the juniors from the CV&WS, including myself, are starting to repaint the Pennsylvania Railroad Caboose that the club owns. The plan is to work on it during the weekends and hopefully get it done by early September. It's something that isn't really documented but i figured people would be interested so i'll be posting a progress report weekly. So far, north and south side of the caboose are ready to be sanded.

What ever happened to tank engines? need some of those!

2-6-2T, 4-6-4T, a good 0-4-0T... DCC for these would be great.

Depends...

I'm probably in the siding. I want to do a good layout but currently have something that im gonna convert to on30 eventually due to the buildings and people i used (way out of scale) ... Till i find out what the heck is going on with me moving or not, i can only plan things out and hope for the best. At least i can buy rolling stock and motive power.

The CVSR Engines heard on the raideo in the shops of the ship landing in Canada.

800: well, that's good news
365: we got to help!
1822: yea! we know the lines better than any of them!
800: No, i'll go alone.
1822: but we go-
6777: no, we must protect 1293 at all cost. 800, do what you can.
800: Alright, i'll go up to Canada and assist them in anyway i can, remember protect 1293 at all cost
6777: We will.

That night, 800 left fitswater yard and headed north. 1822 moved the coaches so he could access the CSX trackage. The journey was dangerous, but he finally made it to Clark Avenue Yard, where he saw 2 diesels with claws guarding the yard, one wrong move and he'd be scrapped himself. But luckily, they were just sleeping, racing down the line, he managed to get to collinwood, then turned around to go to the NS Chicago line, where he ran at top speed doing over 80. When he got to Toledo, he hopped onto the CN line and headed toward the ship wreckage.

800: not much longer... just a few more hours...

By Day break, he found #90 and #475 with the ship.

reminds me of Stewie complaining about stuff magically happening for no reason, no logic at all. Apparently, Brian brought back the character because the children wished it...? i don't know, its been a while sense i watched that family guy episode. The point is, if you don't want the character to die but it did, don't bring him back, just bring someone else or a new character. Its all about whose fastest on the trigger.

REMEMBER EVERYONE, WE'RE SHARING THIS!
