HO / Re: Tanker Cars...no modern?
January 10, 2013, 08:10:22 PM
Well, the monsoon stopped for a while and I heard the whistle blowing, so I rushed down to the tracks and got a quick vid, to my surprise and old IC was in the lead! It had to be cut short because of a very ill behaved 7 year old cousin causing trouble. Anywho, here's a bit of tanker cars for ya to look at. I do aplogize for the poor quality of the night time shooting. I will try and get a better vid during the day. We have 15 freight trains that come through here daily along with the City of New Orleans which comes south one and then back north in the mid afternoon. Anywho, enjoy!

Bal

HO / Tanker Cars...no modern?
January 08, 2013, 02:24:18 AM
I wonder if it's any reason why Bachmann doesn't do other tanker cars than the 40' ones? Like the big 22k -38K gallon size ones? Their newer hoppers are very nice. I have a few of those just wish they would make some newer tanker cars. Because gosh those things are mega expensive for the updated modern looking ones from other companies. Anyone know why they haven't?

Nice job, Ken!
Here also is a little treat for those of you who watched the video of mine, where I talked about the ICG car and locomotive repair yard in my home town in McComb, MS..here is 'part' of the blueprint for the yard..its got even more stuff but my camera wouldn't get it all! Hope you like it!

Thanks for the links and the vids. Yeah the cars I have are very sentimental to me. They're old IC and ICG cars. Where I live, McComb,MS had the largest car repair yard between New Orleans and Memphis, TN. Sadly most of it **** down in 1987. The old car shed is now a loading center for wood hauling. But back on it's heyday I watched many an ICG engine and car go north and south along those rails and yard. My son got his first train set for Christmas and I loaded up on as many IC and ICG cars as I could find. Yet most have the old horn hooks. I will be doing another vid here soon showing the lot of ICG cars I obtained along with a few old engines and some new ones. I'm most excited about a brand new out of the box athearn engine set one powered and one dummy. I also found a guy to convet it over to Dcc and sound for only parts cost
Thanks again for allthe help!

Bal

nice layout Napa...i think everyone should start on a 4x8 to see what you can come up with! Love the tiered lines! Now, how about a more recent vid?
