I will also be doing some diesel houses and car shops with some custom work added to them with the Plastruct and Evergreen. So your frustration isn't solely yours! =)

I feel your pain, RB, but like Piyers said, plastruct and evergreen are your friends. Take a minute to download the plastruct catalog, they have a nice pdf of everything they carry along with pics to help you with your vision and they have ALL the stuff you would ever need to make modern buildings. Your first example wouldn't be to hard to build with just long strips and the tinted clear plastics. Here is the link to the Plas catalog. I just with Evergreen would do one as well! Good luck and let's see some of your work when it's done!

yeah take it apart..the good thing is that nothing is tacked down yet so it won't be that hard to take down. I haven't had any problems with the turnouts yet, I'm figuring though I will have to go to some snap track in the transition or flex as well. Looking forward to the PM..we need more pics of your layout...and lol, I've changed the industry area again on my existing layout due to forseeing future potential snags and eliminating them before they even begin to get started.

here is a very rought layout plan that I was talking about. =)

So the back total width from end to end will be 18' with the left and rights that make up the U's being 8' and the with of the back horizontal being 5' deep. Didn't know if the pic showed the measurements or not.

I also want to keep the double track throughout with a possible third separate line if possible and it makes sense.

yeppers! I took your advice and they are doing great! NO hang up so far, but...I recently sold some, well ok alot of old other hobby stuff and thinking about expanding the layout..i figure now is the time before I get in too deep and then it will be a real mess to add on or rebuild....
think of having the U shape with the 5x8's on the outsides and another 5x8 on the bottom on the baseline.....hmmmm more ideas....more track..more scenery to do! Thinking hard about it...any suggestions please shoot them my way!
Thanks for watching the vids! Much appreciated!

wow, feel lucky you haven't burned up your loco's yet as well if you are running DCC loco's on DC power. I dont konw if you have a DC loco or not but if you do stop running it with the DCC one's..no matter how bad you want too. Especially if it's an old old DC loco.

well, I can half agree with the there are too many different types of tanker cars, but jeez...the one's they have now are SO outdated...they make a plethera of different hopper cars as well, and Bachmann has jumped on the bandwagon. I've gotten 4 of these and 4 of the cylindrical ones...why? Because of the price point of them...yeah, all those shiny details are nice and all, but when it comes down to it my wallet dictates what goes on my layout and get's run...so let's see...one of those mentioned above for 9.99-12.00 or 1 for 20-39 dollars? Hmmm, that's not too hard of decision for me to make.

Personally I think we would see ALOT more tanker cars running on layouts if Bachmann did do an update for their tanker line.

Thanks, JB about the vid, I am going to get some during the daylight hours. My town use to have the biggest car repair yard between New Orleans and Memphis, TN back in it's day it was something to watch, but sadly it was shut down in 1987. The only thing left if a lumber loading shed which was the old car standing area shops. If someone wants I can take some pics of it if they are intending to do a model of one or something. I also have a pic of the blueprint for the yard here in McComb, MS in the show us your layout vid on here...it's quite impressive.
