you're supposed to supply wire for the turntable. you could probably pick up a spool of wire at your local hardware store. unless you use old bachmann wire. find an extra power pack to track wire, modern one or old one. snip off the flat track plug and strip off the insolation a little bit  off the end so the wire is showing. now you can hook up the turntable to a transformer. *note* connect to DC power not AC or else the motor will get damaged.

i used to live not to far away from it too.

the figures sold in the HO line are big enough for the large scale range. Sir Topham Hatt, a Conductor, and Farmer McColl are available. hope that helps!

i believe the repaint was supposed to be a joke for Thomas........in other words something to make money off of. 

that's my plan, to convert a CGI style mail van. I already have 4 classic style mail vans and i don't want to mess them up. all 4 together make up a nice train and i can always leave a mail van at the back of the yard, or something, to make the layout a little more realistic.

I've had brown spray paint at the ready for some time now. i just never got around to it because i've been really busy this summer.

when you painted yours, could you see SODOR MAIL?

Is yours DCC? I heard that I would have to cut some plastic to make it DCC.
