General Discussion / ? about F.A.Q.
May 21, 2008, 11:13:57 PM

The Bachmann "Administrator" posted a Scale vs. Guage explanation.
I was wondering if the ommision of "S" scale was an over sight, or on purpose.
I do realise Bachmann does not make S scale products, but for
a public service - educational post, I think this should be included.

S = 1:64

When getting back into this hobby about 5-6 yrs. ago, I debated on
what scale to get into. I chose On30 over a close behind S scale. I do love the Bachmann Spectrum Line of On30 products. Keep up the good work, &
please, always try to respect all model railroaders.

     Thanks,
           Barry

I have watched, or still on DVR 6 different train related Voyages shows,I wish I hadn't missed the one on model railroading, but the others are very well done and quite informational.
So thanks for the tip on the show.

        Enjoy,

General Discussion / Re: t.v. train show
April 16, 2008, 10:55:07 PM

I,m sure they will come back on PBS within a couple months, most of these shows are more than 10 years old.
Living near the city of Milwaukee, where this show originated, I still ocassionally run into a couple of the former guest from the show. I see
them at club open houses & swap meets, etc. They seem to like it when someone mentions seing them on the show. They don't seem to brag , just fondly remenise.(sp?)

                 Enjoy,

Thanks for the heads up on the programming.

On30 / Re: On30 4-6-0 gearing
March 18, 2008, 10:07:25 PM

I have 3 Moguls, one being from Hawthorne Village, and have had no
problems what so ever with any of them. I have a hundred hrs. or more on each.
These have been great runners for me. Now I'm starting my 4-4-0
collection , only 1 so far. I say buy "AMERICAN".  hee hee.

       Enjoy,

HO / Re: 4 track mainlines using easy track

        Hey Guys,

Another option would be to use the same radius with a 2 or 3 in. straight
pc. on the outside edge. See # 10

On30 / Re: Baggage Car Configuration
March 03, 2008, 10:50:07 PM

      Hey all,
Bachmann does offer a few 2 door baggage cars, I have this one:
  http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/catalog/?function=detail&id=394

Please note the 2 (one on each SIDE) sliding doors, PLUS the 2 end doors, fore & aft doors, or front & back doors. this does also have a stove pipe.
These cars are sold seperate from the sets. I might also note the only way to get an observation car is to buy a set or look for someone breaking up a set for sale on Ebay
       Lee,
I do believe these to be close to proto-typical.

                enjoy,
                    Barry

HO / Re: Mad city railroad show and sale!
February 18, 2008, 09:13:32 PM

        Yes Doc,
       http://www.scwd-nmra.org/febshow.php
Madison, Wisconsin. This show is the 2nd. largest train show in Wis.
Unfortunately, it only happens once a year. This is several hrs. of looking & learning.
I would love to see Bachmann show up at one of these shows. I guess
that Trainfest in Milwaukee in Nov. is the only Wisconsin show we see Bachmann attend. Trainfest is the states largest Train show.
Only a couple months more for train shows/swap meets. Than the excursions trains run more frequent, for the summer months.

                Enjoy,
                    Barry

    Hey Summertrainz,

Yes things are always a changin'. Back in the 40's & 50's Lionel pushed the Father / Son aspect. By the late 60's & later, over 1/2 the marriages, ended in divorce.
Not all is lost. I see things in the recent past ( less than 10 years ),
like The Polar Express, Harry Potters' Hogwarts Express, & yes even Thomas, helping to introduce trains to the younger generations.
The model train world is already oxploiting these to their advantage & good fortune. Who knows what book or cartoon or story will be out next to promote trains in a good way?

          Enjoy,
            Barry

          Hey UTwolfman,

This was a set made by Bachmann, put out by Hawthorne Village. it is On30,  O scale running on HO track. I see some for sale on Ebay now. You really don't want to pay full Hawthorne price. I believe around $80 each piece w/shipping.

          Enjoy,
             Barry

      Hey All,
Sheldon's post reminded me, John Denver ( another one gone way too early in life ) made an all train songs album. My Wife first brought it to my attention, a year or so ago.
