Thomas & Friends / Re: The Bachmann Daisy Thread

I think that Stepney will be one of the most asked for engines now that bachmann is creating Daisy, but I also think it would be a good idea for bachmann to release Ryan. I think bachmann should release Ryan next because Daisy and Ryan are a duo and the main pair on the Harwick Branchline. He would also be a great addition because he is a unique tank engine with a unique color that I think will interest many people. Some could argue that BoCo could be made because of the similar tooling to Daisy and they are also a strong duo, which I would agree with, but BoCo is not as relevant to newer viewers so his market might not be as large as Ryan's. So even though I would love to see bachmann make a BoCo model, I think the choice for bachmann will either be Ryan or Stepney.

That's a good point, but I'm starting to think that February 2020 may actually be the best time to announce Stepney because the 75th Anniversary would be another helpful reason to give the licencor, even if he has not been in the CGI series yet. If this meant that Stepney has to be delayed like Oliver, I'm sure that fans would be fine with that. It would still be an additional miracle, and really help boost Bachmann's sales once more!

I just uploaded a video on YouTube on my thoughts of the new announcement, as well as expressing my gratitude for this new announcement! For those who would prefer to not sit through all 15 minutes, one question I would like to ask is: how does everyone feel about introducing another non-rail character in February 2020? The last non-rail character we got was Jeremy, which was back in 2013-2014.

I'm thinking of Trevor or Bulgy. Both are similar to Daisy because although they are classic characters, they have made many appearances in the CGI era too. Thus, both would sell much better than Jeremy, who was not a classic character. And unlike Oliver and Duncan, both of them have nice CGI designs as well. They would require new toolings, but since they are non-rail characters, they would not need motors. Do you think that they would sell as well as Stepney or Daisy?

The fact that the Hornby Stepney sells for a lot of money on eBay, even in recent months, should be enough of an incentive for Bachmann to consider making him. I mean, they do like money, right?
Hopefully, if Bachmann gets to Stepney, Mattel would make an exception for him, as he's one of the top requests for Bachmann at this point in time. People really want Stepney, since his Hornby model costs a ridiculous amount of money on eBay. Now that Daisy has been announced, Stepney is the next engine for everyone to keep asking for in HO Scale.

I agree. Stepney should definitely be Bachmann's next HO locomotive due to his popularity. I see that Ryan has a pretty good following too, but not at the level of Stepney. While it is unlikely, it would be a miracle if Stepney got announced in February 2020, but I think that we may need to wait a little longer.

Yeah, that may be the case. Yet, if there is a way to make the face more square while still using the CGI Tanker faces as a reference, that would be a nice compromise.

Bachmann has always done a great job with compromises, as the red and blue narrow gauge carriages most recently proved to us.

I'm very happy to see that Troublesome Truck #6 is a tanker, but I do have two questions to ask fans:

1. Considering that it is an oil tanker, do you think it would be possible if Bachmann could use the old oil tanker logo from the model era for this tanker? If not, would you like it to be a plain tanker or with the CGI logo?

2. Would you prefer if they made the face more of a square shape like the model series?

Personally, I would like to see it with the older oil tanker logo or as plain tanker, and with a square face  :).

WOW! So not only did Bachmann make an incredible new product announcement yesterday, but they also made the narrow gauge carriages using two separate toolings! This just goes to show that the Bachmann reps take our comments very seriously. The only small complaint I have is that the shade of blue they chose for the blue carriage is a little on the dark side, but other than that I'm very happy!
Terence, the darkness is only due to my phone always making pictures slightly dark. The blue is actually quite bright in person, plus there was another shelf above with bigger products on it, which might have blocked some of the light. The blue as far right on the carriage in the first photo is actually closer to what it looks like in person, even with the slight glare.

That's great to know! The lighter shade is what I would personally like more, as it would match the model series.

Was anyone surprised by Daisy having an eye mechanism? As far as I remember, not too many people were expecting its integration with her windows in mind. Regardless, it's a welcome addition that may make her model all the more nifty.

I was certainly surprised to see that! I guess the main question with Daisy is what Bachmann will do with Daisy's windows:

1. "See-through" windows like the express coaches even if it means that we may see the motor or moving eye mechanism?
2. Closed windows with black plastic like Thomas and Percy's HO cabs?
3. Closed windows with silver plastic like Mavis and Diesel's HO cabs?

What do you guys think?

A friend of mine was told that by a Bachmann rep. It's unfortunate, but let's just hope that the tooling is based on Talyllyn Coach 1-3 or Coach 4 and not the CGI render. If the coaches have the proportions of the CGI render, I will definitely not get them.

If Daisy gets made, I personally wouldn't mind if they omit the eye mechanism entirely if it means that we could get proper windows. Seeing that the Large Scale Winston does not have a moving eye mechanism, I don't see any shame if Daisy does not have one either.

Those are actually pics from the television series. Quite frankly, I'm surprised that we still have not gotten final product images as it has been stated that they are only using one tooling.

So, in all honesty, last night I had a dream:

I and some other Thomas fans were walking around the iHobby Expo, and we suddenly came across the Bachmann booth. We saw Doug Blaine and Jack Lynch there and decided to go talk to them. Apparently, Stepney had been announced for 2020, as one of the Thomas fans who I was with told them how grateful we were to see Stepney coming to the Bachmann range to celebrate the 75th Anniversary! Mr. Lynch explained to us that it was extremely challenging to get Mattel to agree to this and that he's holding us accountable with Stepney's sales (as a joke), since so many people on the forum stated that Stepney would be an extremely strong seller. Finally, Doug Blaine said that the Bachmann team was aware that there have not been any new toolings for the HO Thomas range in some time, and that they wanted to do something special for Thomas' 75th Anniversary. Then, I woke up.

Overall, this is pretty ironic considering that I typed in "Dreaming of a Bachmann Stepney" a few days ago, but let's keep the excitement for Stepney going! We all want him, and this dream could be foreshadowing something...
