I do have a Bachmann Large scale steamer I bought with a set for using at Christmas time which got me into Large Scale too. Can I install that system you are mentioning
into the tender??
I did find a local Garden Railroad Club not very far from where I live and a couple of the guys said they would help with installation of sound systems but I need more information to help them.

You are a wealth of help. That web page gave me some ideas in making some repairs

for some of the hobby things we have here around the house.

Thanks and leave it to those masterful Germans to engineer some cool stuff.

Thanks GG-1

Your right her schedule is such where I literally see her mere moments at a time early morning or later evening when she gets home from a Volleyball Tournament or practice then she stays up later to study for school.

Sorry I didn't get back I did the modification with my Dremel and the GG1 is doing OK a couple of "hiccups" but very rare.

It's looking good on the track again. Next is the "Joe S" plan to make the lights brighter. I hope to tackle it over the Memorial Day weekend

Thanks GG-1 I will be in touch. I would love to start posting some pictures or video of Joey and some of the other kids enjoying the Trains!!!

try to replace the rails with wire instead of plastic. There are all kinds of gauges of wire you can cut and shape and paint.

You may surprise yourself and find it very realistic once its done. If you can't find the right size a hobby shop, Michaels or art supply shop might have it. If you want to go plastic there are gauges of plastic. Let me know what size you need I may have some.
When I built model aircraft I did a lot of scratch construction repairs and may have what you need let me know!!

Also

Regarding that GP-38. U all were right it doesn't come with the soundsystem installed.

BUT

as a tech fella from USA told me the plug ins and mounts are all there for putting a system in.

Are those Bachmann soundsystems I read about in the catalog compatable??

I figure if I'm am going for a more serious Power Source might as well add the "sounds".

Not to mention outside would be an attention getter!!!!!

Hi Chuck
I received the later one.

I sent you a response. Bridgewerks was very helpful and I have one of the Power units coming my way. They said I should have it by Thurs or Friday in time for the Holiday weekend.

My wife informed me this morning we will have 5 families here with their kids as well as some of our relatives.

Thanks Chuck and everyone else helping me. I learned a lot!!!!

Can you recommend some power sources just for starters?

Dear Jerry and Chuch

Thanks very much for your input.

When I used the word Railsounds I meant in a generic way as you fiqured I was using it. I  was unaware it was a trademarked name. I appreciate setting me straight.

I'll just have to get the Locomotive on my work-desk and open it up to see what's inside.
I'll have to do some "brain-picking" like you said to find the right power source because you are correct. Now that I have it outside on the patio I sure can use a few more RR cars. Because kids like Gondolas to put "stuff" in and flat cars for adult beverage transport. And I would like to have some lighting when it gets dark. I hope I can some of this before the weekend!!

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Hi Curt

Thanks for the info I'll check to see if I can hunt one down.

I hope WBB considers matching cabooses for these GP-30's.

It was ironic that I bought the UP MPH Caboose last year and now with the GP-30 I just

picked up it is quite a match!!!

Have a great wekend!!!

Sorry for long delays. Lots of baseball going on. 3 of my 5 kids are playing this year.

I will check to see what sound systems these locomotives have. The fella down in Florida where I bought the GP-38 is good about finding info for me. The Aristocraft RS-3 I will have to ask around or see what I come up with
.
I was reading through the Bachmann catalog late last night and found they DO sell a power unit for large scale. Is this one I should think about. BUT looking at the picture I didn't see any switch or button to activate the sound systems on the Locomotives.
For Memorial Day I wanted to have the Large Scale set up on the patio outside so the kids could stay outside the "Railsounds" would keep them busy if I could have it by then.

My kids All watched "Thomas" and my 2 little ones still will sit through an episode.

The George Carlin ones and Ringo Starr are the best in my opinion

If you want to see this ACL GP-30 go through its paces wmwalker has a video of it on this thread reply #39 posted Apr 27 of this year.

This is also a beauty and am really happy I added this one too!!!!!!

Question:
Is there a caboose that matches up with this?

Future Releases:

It will be interesting to see what WBB does with this series. I am sure all of us would like to see other "markings" I have a couple I would like to see but I will leave that up to folks here to post suggestions and see what WBB does.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read the review and post your comments or questions. Somehow I felt compelled to post something on this locomotive as I was impressed by the quality and value. As I said above somewhere I had a "hunch" this was going to be a good buy and am glad I took the plunge.

I think WBB has a great future ahead look forward to seeing more of their releases especially that RS-3 in Seaboard markings!!!!

I agree with you. I truly am grateful to have WBB Steamers and Diesels at great prices.

For us married guys with a bunch of kids(me) it doesn't kill the family budget or make the wife nervous about the hobby!!!

I don't know what you mean about no smoke on the WBB steamers? I do agree a steamer HAS to have smoke but I don't think it's necessary that smoke and steam come out of a whole bunch of "orifices".

The steamer that impressed me with it's sound and smoke unit is the Lionel Horseshoe curve Berkshire(it's a semi scale). Check it out if you able .
. In another thread I promised to post picture and video and folks on this forum have given me great advise BUT my daughter promised to help me do all this and she has been busy with Junior Prom and volleyball Tournaments and yesterday she said she hasn't forgotten. BUT as soon as we get it going I'll post something on the steamer as well as the GP-30.

What I do like are the fan driven units on the G-Scale GP-38 I picked up when I was down in Florida. On the Ventral(bottom) side are on-off switches. Some years ago I picked up a RS-3 that had smoke capacity with an on-off switch. What I did was use Chistmas Tree scented smoke  as we use the G-Scale for around the Christmas tree during the Holidays. It's a nice feature that happened to come with the locomotive which I was unaware of until i had it home and read the instruction book.

BUT I don't think WBB needs to have it if it jacks up the price.

Maybe if Bachmann ran a "Plebiscite" vote on this forum they might get enough feedback to see if it would be worth it to produce it.

The more I read about these "Mikes" the more I like them!!!!
