General Discussion / Lionel Polar Express Set
January 15, 2010, 09:27:07 PM
My friend has the complete polar express set with all the add on cars plus 3 more extra cars. He and I went to a train show he works at and ran the set and 5 PE cars that I brought. The track that they have is Lionel's new Fastrack and the new controlling center Lionel legacy. So he ran it for so long that the smoke unit burned up and some light bulbs burnt out.
So two things:
Is the smoke unit replaceable
and how do you take the roof off the coaches to get to the light bulbs

Thank you Lexon. They work fine on the dynamis. I needed that list of functions. ;D Those instructions helped for my K4, but do you have them for the challenger and the Dreyfus Hudson?

I got the soundtraxxx. 2 things.
1. does it come with a decoder
Does what come with a decoder, the engine? or the Soundtraxx unit which is both a sound system, and a motor decoder....
Quote2. How do I take the shell off?
Have you looked at Product reference-->Diagrams on the left sidebar of this forum?

I found how to take the shell off in the tender. And have put in the Soundtraxxx. Have not tried it yet.  Also what company makes a good fan driven smoke machine? and is small enough to fit it the engines front?

Are all the batteries the same type, and are they all the same age with the same amount of juice? If any of these are no than that could be your problem. Or did you drop it or did it fall possibly without you knowing? Or did you store it somewhere like a basement, attic, shed or garage?
And lastly if you bought it from a authorized Bachmann dealer and you still have your receipt, you can send it in for repair.

The batteries are brand new.  I do keep it in my basement where my layout is.

For the large scale range, it's almost a given if the range were to continue, James would be the next engine.  There is just no way that they could not make him if they decided to continue the range.

As for HO:
The amount of items that came in this year was disappointing
One engine that was already delayed (Salty)
One building that was already delayed (Switch Tower)
Two rolling stock items (Flat car with paint drums and ventilated van)
Terence the Tractor
Two accessories that are NOW delayed...(Tidmouth sheds, and the expansion pack for Tidmouth sheds)

TBH I'll be amazed if we get three or four engines, it would make sense though to make up for the lack of engines we got this year and to keep up consistancy by adding more engines with them.  However that being said, the economy can always be an issue since that could also explain why they didn't announce so much this year too.  So if we do end up getting Duck, Donald, Douglas, and Whiff then that will be amazing for us, but of course there is a chance different characters may be announced too or maybe instead.  As I've said before though, if there really are three or four engines coming out this year then I am sure we will be happy with what we would hear at the Toy Fair (Which is on February 14th-17th).

As for rolling stock, there is always more rolling stock coming out in the Thomas range per announcement period, so I'm sure we'll get a decent amount of rolling stock coming out too.

On walthers.com. The add-on pack was under G gauge.
