Large / Re: Hey Bachman, Welcome back and a request.
January 30, 2023, 07:32:39 PM
Greg,

All of the administrators of the board are Bachmann employees. It is their choice to reveal any personal details.

The board was down, now it is back. There is no need to dwell on it.  It is a free service that we provide. We felt that it served a purpose, so we put in the time and effort to bring it back.

We want to focus on positive and problem solving topics. Negative posts with no purpose will be deleted.

Thank You

General Discussion / Re: Parts (Turnout question)
January 30, 2023, 07:11:06 PM
Since you are using 22" curves, you would want at least a 22" curved turnout.  We don't offer this in our product line, so we would suggest a #5 or #6 turnout.

Hope that helps.

One other thing.  Make sure the gaps are not on the same rail.  They need to be opposite of each other.  If they are connected as the per the instructions and the gaps are on the same rail, contact customer service.

HO / Re: Discontinuance of steam engines?

Guys,

It is that time of year.  We deactivate items that are being dropped form the catalog.  New items will appear as we create new listings.

Thanks

Trainman,

We have no intention of discontinuing steam locomotives. Some models run their course and we give them a rest and then bring them back again after a few years. Examples are the Decapod and K-4. New models will be out this year (Hudson and retooled 0-6-0).

Thanks!

Williams by Bachmann / Jerry Williams
November 02, 2016, 11:36:36 AM
We are sad to inform everyone of the passing of Jerry Williams.

Jerry was a major contributor to the growth of the O Gauge industry.  He recently was elected to the Model Railroad Hall of Fame by the Hobby Manufacturers Association.  Staring from humble beginnings, Jerry established Williams Reproductions limited in 1971. Initially focusing on reproductions of hard to find tinplate trains, Jerry later introduced some iconic scale model steam locomotives to the O Gauge market for the first time.  Although Williams Reproductions Limited was never the biggest company in O Gauge, Jerry's vision and competition forced other companies to raise their standards.  Additionally, many of today's train manufacturers have benefited from the experience that they learned while working with Jerry.  These include Mike Wolf and Andy Edleman of MTH, Ken Silvestri of Broadway Limited, and Larry Harrington of Bachmann Industries. He should be credited with the birth of Hi-Rail and recognized as a major reason for the size of the O Gauge market today.

Here are links to videos of the Jupiter and Union Pacific 119 straight out of the box. They seem fine to us.
If anyone out there has any problems with one of these locomotives they can contact our service department who will be happy to take care of any problems.

General Discussion / Re: Use of Message Board

pdlethbridge,

It is actually both limits.  You cannot send a message to more than 5 recipients and you cannot send more than 5 per hour.  If 5 is not high enough what do you suggest? You don't want SPAM; increasing the number could result in more SPAM in personal messages.

The captcha setting is based on post count (which we don't use) so it will be required every time.

The Captcha is active for new users accounts.  We have also started using a module that does not allow known spammers to create accounts.  It checks several things and blocks the registration  if there are any matches in the Spam database. We have blocked many since it has been turned on.

Dear All,

We have looked at some additional options on the message feature.  (By the way, it works now because we upgraded to the current version of the software.) The software does not offer the option of putting the messages in a holding area, but we did turn on the report to moderator feature.  This works just like reporting a post. So if you get any sort of Spam, just report it and we will ban the user.

We have also limited the number of recipients to 5 and maximum personal messages to 5 per hour.

Let's try it like this for now and see what happens.  It seems like most people would like to keep this feature on.

N / N Scale Parts Online
November 18, 2009, 10:50:56 PM
We are pleased to announce that all available N Scale parts have been added to our online parts store.
Link to Parts store

If you do not see it listed, we do not have it at this time.

We will continue to add parts for other scales as we sort, count, and photograph them.

Thank You
