General Discussion / Another laugh for you!!

I've been keeping up with that YouTube channel that posted the garden railroad video I mentioned here a while back... video quality has improved greatly and this stuff is funny...  Check it out, that kid is going somewhere!  This kid has interviewed Tony Cook, Lionel Strang, John Abatecola... wow.

I started with Bachmann sets. If you're looking for something top notch, try the Acela set. A good, cheaper set is the Chessie Special. There are Thomas train sets, sets with DCC / sound - choose what you like. Bachmann sets are easy to use, anything in their catalog will be fine.

Translation:

Hello my dears!

My little son (6) is passionate about trains. For his sake I have now dealt a little closer with model trains, and in the meantime the fever has seized me. I came across this page during my research.

However, since I'm still new to this area, I don't have that much idea.

Hence my question to you: What is the best entry-level model that father and son can have fun with?

I tend to buy off of Trainworld.  I am close to the area, so that is technically my local hobby shop.  I used to order from ModelTrainStuff, but their selection tends to be less than it once was, and I haven't ordered from there in a bit now.  If you're looking for something specific I'd be happy to search the www for you.

I am a diehard HO-scaler, but I'm building a 12' loop around a tree in my yard, battery power.  Can someone please point me towards a battery that will last a while on a small loco?  I'm putting all electronics in a trailing car.
