Wasn't aware of her iisted weight/other info. That's very comforting. I guess I'm still scarred by LS Diesel...

Can I just say I LOVE this box design- so crisp and clean. Someone in Bachmann's graphic design department deserves a raise.

Ok, this is most likely unfounded, but is anyone else scared that Daisy may be cancelled? I keep thinking about the logistics of her mould, eye mech, etc and it's so different from anything we've seen in the Thomas range thus far that I have this irrational fear that Bachmann will just throw their hands up and cancel her. Totally random thought but figured I'd share to see if I had any sympathizers.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but the fact that these appear to just be scaled-down versions of the HO versions is really disheartening. 🤷‍♂️

Thomas & Friends / Re: Stepney or Ryan?

Not only is Stepney a real-life engine, which would appeal to serious modellers with (grand)kids looking for Thomas models to run on their layouts, but the success and subsequent prices of the discontinued Hornby Stepney prove that there is a highly lucrative market for a model of the character in HO. I think Bachmann would be unwise to lose the opportunity of a 75th anniversary to release this highly revered, classic series engine.

This is absolutely surreal. After years of waiting, we've finally got the announcements that the fans wanted. Bachmann, this is truly spectacular- and we didn't even have to wait till February! You guys have outdone yourselves, and earned back a customer; I will absolutely be purchasing Daisy and Peter Sam. This is spectacular.

Anthony! I mentioned this to you on Twitter, but even though Rusty is based on Mainlander, he seems to be dreadfully out of scale with Skarloey and Rheneas, so much so that if I was collecting the NG line I would probably just purchase the chassis and design a 3-D print for the body, given how simplistic the shape is. I mean...

(I lined them up and got the sizes as accurately as I could, probably not 100% accurate but I couldn't find a single shot from the show that showed them together)

I would love if someone (Chaz???) could take a more centered head-on shot comparison of Skarloey and Rusty (and Rheneas and Rusty, since I can make another comparison shot using the head-on promos fairly easily), maybe even on a white background, but for the time being this photo from AnthonyP2 should show how completely inaccurate the scaling is.

Somewhat disappointing, especially after such a long wait. But I suppose that he is based on his real life counterpart.

HO / EZ Track Geometry?
March 17, 2019, 10:21:56 PM
hi-
trying to get a little e-z track temporary layout created that i can mess around when i come home next year from college, i know i won't be able to commit to a serious layout so this is the next best thing; anyone know if there is a graphic of some sort that explains how the different switches and track lengths fit together? something like what LGB did here:

i'm using nickle silver track by the way..

thanks in advance

Thomas & Friends / Re: HO Thomas locos back in stock

Thanks, Plow! This is the older version I believe, which will do, although I was hoping to get the newer one with the crate conflat and van... ah well! The newest version announced this year is such a letdown+not worth the price, especially someone jumping back into (for the third time) the hobby.

The new break van is pretty neat though.

Any word on the new Christmas set? I really wanted to get the old one but I can't find it anywhere.

Thomas & Friends / Re: N Scale Bachmann Thomas

Let me make one thing clear- if Bachmann's N scale models are classic-series themed, they will have me hook, line, and sinker. But I highly doubt this will be the case.

What a disappointing year. Contrary to my statement from last night, I don't think there's a single item here that I am looking forward to. What a shame. I truly thought Bachmann had something special planned. The N scale line feels redundant and unnecessary and I have an awful feeling that just like the large scale line, the N scale will plateau after a few releases and (probably) be canceled or simply put out recolors. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

The time and energy I am assuming that Bachmann put into acquiring this N scale license were probably why the Large Scale and Narrow Gauge lines were neglected, and in my mind, that rationale makes very little sense.  I'm sure that they have weighed the positives and negatives though and have decided that it's a worthy trade-off, but it's still sad to see them jumping to the next best market instead of just continuing with the current lines. But that's just business I suppose.

Not sure what else to say. Bring on 2020.
