Another choice is to pay the tech at the local train shop to install the unit. if you don't have a local shop there, then I geuss you will have to bite the bullet, and ABC is right, Learning to solder is a good money saving skill to have. just do yourself a favor and buy a high quality soldering "Pencil" and quality solder. you will find yourself fixing more then your trains. I suggest you find an old circuit board from something and practice removing components and resoldering them to get the hang of it.

Here in the States we also Used to have Speed limit Signs White with Black Letters and then Below it a smaller Black with White letters Usually 10mph less, one was the Day limit the other the night, they started to disappear in the late 1970's and were replaced with just white with blk.

P.S. I have seen a small modern stop sign on a line that runs through Redondo Beach/Torrance Ca. next time I see it  I'll have to take a picture. It

I know nothing about dcc but why does your loco draw more mA while standing still?

The scariest movie I can think of in semi recent times was the remake of the Fugitive with Harrison ford, I shutter at the Train wreck scene, the horror oh the horror.  :P

I use 91% alcohol on a q-tip works well but some time leaves a little haze, but I always spray a coat testors dullkote over my locos after I re-letter them and the haze has always vanished. I am sure you will get more suggestions

Hi,  Your conscious mind may not notice the tiny details but your subconscious does and helps fool your conscious mind, thus making things look more realistic. sort of like adding hand rub marks on handrails for your prized weathered loco, you might not focus on that one often overlooked detail but it helps the overall appearance.

Just my two cents

P.S. of coarse there are people that get carried away with detail to the point of clutter.

Hi,
I built an elevated Loop in my daughters room and was thinking of switching to Batteries, Has anybody here heard of, or made a charging track? a section that you park the loco on and then it charges through wheel pickups?

600 grit polishes the track the erasers I have leave it with a brushed sanded look, I say this try a test peice of track then decide.

I use 600 or finer sand paper on old track then wipe it with a cloth has never caused me a problem in 40+ years of running all scales, 600+ sand paper removes the little pits caused by corrosion, common track cleaning eraser found at railroad shops have fine grit embedded in them. so it can't be all that bad. Maybe I should have been specific with the grit but I assume people have common sense here

The great thing about it being ho is you can get some new style "EZ" track
Your old track can be cleaned with erasers or very fine sand paper if its really bad just go for the EZ track if you are just looking to set it up on the floor and run it around a little.

Nice Job,
A little dullkote on the roof to take away the shininess and some tissue paper curtains in the windows and your set.

Hi,
you can go to home depot or other paint suppiers and get small bottles of any color sample paints for very cheap the selection is incredible.

PS. On my lighted buildings I always paint the first inside coat black then apply the the finish coat to keep the structure from "Glowing' when lit.

Wow,
I live just 20 miles from Union Station where this tour Began, I heard nothing about this, Disney didn't promote it much in California, likely they didn't want the riffraff that lives around the station to show up and damage/graffetti  the train.
