22 inches especially if you will be using a trailer coach, even without it is over 85 feet long so anything less would be risky.

Try to find a coach on ebay, at a trainshow or flea market for parts or as a direct replacement.

Thanks that seems vaguely familiar now. I think another company made one for their DCC system.

but I too would LOVE to find the walk around companion... and I'm still a bit disappointed that Bachmann canceled the wi-fi interface for the EZ Commander... that could have been SWEET! (and who knows... had that actually been made, I might not feel bothered to upgrade...
I would like to hear more about this "wi-fi interface"
I am only familiar with a computer interface through the standard I/O port, I had no idea anyone had a wi-fi interface, and I never knew Bachmann intended to originally support such an interface just the standard computer interface.

Did you try ringing the service department?
And they will need a bit more information in order to better assist you.

There are probably a lot of books you can buy, search the net for something that is in your price range and suits your needs. Kalmbach Publishing may have some.

You probably just need to remove the couplers and boxes and then just lift the shell up, but it could be different depending on when your model is from exactly.

Is there a spectrum slop back tender with electrical contacts? I have a project and this would save a lot of time.
There is one in N scale, but I don't think they ever made one in HO. I know of the following in HO:
USRA Long, Hicken, Vanderbuilt Long and Medium, and Auxiliary Water (N&W style)
as for a USRA short or slope-back, I think those were only made in N

Regardless the HO tenders have been out of production for a long time and are not easy to find anymore and if the slope-back did exist in HO I couldn't find any evidence of it so you appear to be out of luck unfortunately.

I'm 16 with only a part time job, i can't afford overland! That's why i'm suggesting it to bachmann lol
Well then it looks like you are in the market for full time employment until then. I actually started working full time when I was 13, mind you I don't think it was legal.
If it is any consolation starting wages for coal miners is $70,000 a year which should allow you to buy an overland model or two.

There are two different versions of this set. I know the one version for sure does and am almost positive the other does as well.

I think Overland made one, if you really want one.

Quote from: quark51 on May 16, 2017, 03:03:01 PMToo bad that the SD70ACE and ES44AC were not released without sound and DCC, if they were I would pick up a few more of them.
It is pretty easy to remove the sound if you really don't like it that much.

General Discussion / Re: sound decoder

Do you want a sound only or a full function decoder?
By the way my personal advice is to buy one already with sound until you are more familiar with installing DCC.

HO / Re: Number 4 switch versus regular switch
May 14, 2017, 07:23:08 PM
The higher the number the better, so #8's would be best for larger locomotives like a 4-8-8-4, 4-6-6-4, or a Bachmann EM-1 2-8-8-4 for instance as well as for 85 and 89 foot cars. #4's would more be suited for 4 axle diesels or an 0-4-0 or 0-6-0 and 40 foot or shorter cars. 18" radius (what you are calling a regular switch) would be about the same category as a #4 but a bit more restrictive.

Bachmann 85 foot HO passenger cars all operate reliably only on 22" radius or greater. Ideally if you could use 24 or larger you would really improve aesthetics as well.
