General Discussion / Re: Automated turnouts
January 05, 2011, 04:48:02 PM
If the auto reverse moduals put out DC and your tortise switch machinews run on 2 wires and DC, from what I would think you could put some type of relay that is timed to let current flow for as long as the switch machines need current, you would only need to run the tortice wires through the relay then to the output on the auto reverser(s). Because then If the current polarity from the Auto reversers change then it should switch the switcher. I'm not sure if it works that way though.

How old are the locos? If they are new than they should have DCC already in them.

If it's a diesel, it won't have smoke to start with.

I agree with Jward.

I think I know what you are talking about.  :-\ The thin one is a cheep push switch while the other is better because if you use that one it will let you hook the switch track to a track powered by DCC, the other won't.

HO / Re: Figure 8 & set idea

I think it would be cool. I'd like to have an 0-6-0 docksider but they might ought to sell it with and without a DCC controler because some people may like to have the set but don't need another DCC controler.  :-\

General Discussion / Re: dcc engine to dc

I bought a train set that is a dc operation.  If I have a dcc equipped engine, what do I need to do to convert it to dc so I can run it.

If it is Bachmann, or any NMRA raed brand you shouldent have to mdo anything. just run it on DC.

Well first of all, you shouldent of hooked it up to the A.C. current acsessory terminals. You should have hooked it to the D.C. terminals. Do that and see what happens.

HO / Re: Bachmann 2-6-0 item#56549 DCC ready?
December 21, 2010, 09:23:14 AM
No.  :( It is not DCC ready nor DCC equipped or DCC sound equipped. Here is something you might like to know- If in the description is says that it has smoke it doesn't have any of the DCC options that I listed. But I want you to realize this only applies to Bachmann trains and a few other companies.

No.  :(  The only starter set that is DCC ready is the Amtrak Norester. All of the spectrum sets are DCC equipped other than that set. The Acela is the only set that is spectrum that is not steam. Bachmann does have DCC starter sets that actually come with a DCC controller and only 2 of them have diesels. And here is another suggestion, I would notget them DCC ready because the decoders are not alltat cheep. So getting locomotives with the DCC already in them are a lot less expensive.  The DCC state sets are listed under the DCC equipped sets and not under the regular set listings.

HO / Re: DC & DCC with EZ Track
December 20, 2010, 08:58:04 AM
Yes! If you want you can actually get new E-Z switches with DCC in them and control them with your DCC controler. I'm not sure about the auto reverse track working with it but an auto reverse unit is only compatible with DCC. The track and revese unit are two different things. The auto track lets something go back and forth on one track without havin to change the direction while the reverse loop modual allows you to make areversing loop.

Mine has a tick too but I think it may be the rods. It makes something like a chugging sound too although it has no sound.
