If Daisy and Diesel 10 were to pull anything whatsoever, what would it be?
A milk tanker of course :D, Dairy van if it's RWS logic though :P ...I'm sorry I couldn't help the urge to make that reference

Thomas & Friends / Re: CGI Character Thread
April 25, 2015, 10:32:21 AM
I guess this makes me a lot younger than most here. Hero Of The Rails didn't come out until September 8th 2009 in the US, and I would've been in the 5th grade at that point...Speaking of movies, I know it's a diversion from the topic at hand, but what are everyone's favorite and why? If going off topic for a little is OK here? Or maybe I should move this to the Everything Thomas Thread?
If I am to give my reasoning though, I'd like to see a Hiro model probably more than any other CGI-exclusive character, but I think I'd like to see Rosie, if only for the sole reason that I like the engine class she's based off and even though it would require heavy modification, I'd love to have a prototype one running on my layout :)

I saw that Toad is coming out in October of this year, and Oliver and Skarloey are coming out in November of this year. Is that correct?
afraid so, but you never know, they might do the three around the same time.

Can anyone tell me what the yellow exclamation points mean by author (on the portfolio folder)?
Quote from: TTTEfan1992 on April 19, 2015, 05:37:40 PM
Well according to the this website: http://www.tootallythomas.co.uk/blog/read_72132/bachmann-announce-new-releases-for-2015.html, Toad is being released in October 2015, and Oliver and Skarloey are both being released in November 2015. But on the caboose hobbies site here: http://www.caboosehobbies.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?manufacturers_id=85~1245&scales_name=HO+Scale&dfrom=08/02/2012&sort=8a&filter_id=85, both Oliver and Toad are being released in October 2015. I'm not sure about Skarloey though.
#1 please edit instead of double posting, no big deal, it just causes less clutter
#2 I think at the bottom of the web page, or at least close to it, there's a guide to what they all mean, yellow exclamation points indicate a "Hot Topic" which I believe is a topic with more than 15 replies, red indicates a very hot topic, with 25 or an excess of 25 replies.

In short modify don't double post  ;D no big deal though. Well said Alex. I remember those days  ::)
As I'm sure Sparks, Chaz, JD417 and many more do as well. And thank you, a big part of why I deleted my original account was to rid myself of that bad history, but moving on from that :P
Now PineTreeJunction, if you need help with anything in future, don't hesitate to ask, we're a nice bunch around here and will help in any way we can :) but as ThomasJ219 said, it's no big deal. I just thought I'd try to help out early on :)

Many thanks!  It's great to have so many friends already so I'm sure there will be more videos coming soon.
I am a fan, though I get the feeling not as much of a dire fan as some other members here, but I feel I should suggest something to you, it helps when members read the topics as it makes them clear of clutter and easier to read if you merely edit a post, instead of posting a few times in a row before someone replies. Trust me, on my first account I had an incredibly difficult time settling in and did that a few times, annoying multiple members to no end and my other inexperiences set off a large chain of events that caused quite a large ruckus, I am sure as you are far more mature than I was when I joined, you won't make those fatal mistakes, I'm just hoping I can help you here, because sooner or later someone may get annoyed and I don't want that happening to you. So please use the "modify" button instead of making a few different posts, it will save you a lot of trouble later on, and sorry for the rant, I am just trying to help out, as you are a new member and I was once too. But I'm sure you'll fit in well here. And I must add to the aforementioned remarks here, it's nice to have you on the forums :)

No. that was Sodor Junction Station that was discontinued, not Knapford Station. Knapford Station is still available.
Oh, I was just looking online and couldn't find it anywhere though :( but I shall take your word for it :)

Hi all,

Recently purchased an unopened Bachmann Toby engine in HO scale. Got it home after two months away at school and went to run him.
Only used a DC powerpack as I know DCC would kill him and noticed two issues right away.
First Toby doesn't seem to accelerate well and when he does accelerate I notice a grinding/straining sound.
Second when he does get going I notice that there is an electrical burning smell always present.
Not sure what is going on. Was gonna pop him open tomorrow and look inside, but I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone could help.
Maybe the Bachmann could help?

-Striker
Unfortunately, the only advice I can actually give is do not, I repeat do not run him until you can fix it. I once had a similar problem with a tank engine when I was testing it at my club on it's first run, not long into this test run, smoke started pouring from it's motor. The motor was already burnt out; occurrences like this are rare but can happen, I'd say wait and see if anyone else can weigh in on the topic but I'd suggest seeing if you're covered by warranty and replacing it - but again I'd suggest seeing if anyone else can help.

Good luck :)

One thing I'd like to hear people's opinion on is do you think the coaches would have faces or not? And do you think the trucks would have faces or not?

AJW, its one of those jokes where you gotta read it out loud. D.Fusit = Defuse it, cause gun powder is highly combustible, so you don't want any flames around it.  ;)
Ah, OK I understand now. Thanks jettrainfan :)

On the subject of the brakevan, I believe that they'd also introduce the blue van, as it is part of the blue and white set of coaches. While I'm on the subject as well; do you guys think they'd make the blue and white coaches with the Annie/Clarabel esque expressions, or like they were pictured in Sparks's image? Finally: sorry if I seem dense for this but is there some kind of joke in the D.Fusit name that I just do not understand? I actually don't get the joke :-[
And whilst I don't really see this lot coming, I would absolutely love to see BACHMANN produce the Narrow Guage engines in N Guage. Personally I believe that they would start off with Skarloey and Rheneas, and possibly a third engine, if they did it would likely be Sir Handel I think. Other than that I think they'd start with the slate trucks (possibly with a load of slate), the general brown brakevan, and blue and white coaches with the blue brakevan. So essentially I'm almost completely in agreement with Sparks...
And finally, a side note: I genuinely think this is a fantastic topic idea, I really do ;D kudos, Sparks :)

Sorry for quoting such an old post :(, but do you recall how you scratch constructed these, ThomasFan247? I find the scratch built fences and buffers to look quite nice :).
I used spare sleepers/railroad ties to build the buffers and tooth picks for the fences :)
Cheers, man :)

Thomas & Friends / Re: Narrator Poll
April 16, 2014, 11:19:21 PM
Hmmm...as a child I grew up in the late era of Britt Alcroft and the early era of HiT Entertainment ( I am a 1998 child "through and through", as I believe the expression goes :P ), although I must say the era did not change much for me because my family hadn't quite caught up with recent times (something I thank my lucky stars for now, as I got to see the classic seasons, which I view as the best of the show to this day, and I also got to see earlier incarnations of other shows, but that's a story for another day), so I grew up on seasons 1-5 mostly with a bit of season 6 mixed in. Although I must say I watched Thomas And The Magic Rail Road quite a lot growing up. And I believe this is common knowledge, but just in case anyone didn't know (I'm really trying hard not to sound full of myself here and apologies if I am), in Australia we receive the British narration, meaning I grew up with Ringo Starr (Seasons 1-2) and Michael Angelis (seasons 3-6) with Alec Baldwin thrown in the mix for his appearance in TATMRR. Now as a child I was not aware of the American narrators (Other than Baldwin), so my list would've been:
1. Angelis
2. Baldwin
3. Ringo
Now around the same time I learned of Michael Brandon and George Carlin's narrations, I also found out about "The Great Discovery" and that it was being released soon. I set my hopes high for that special and I was quite let down after watching it, mostly due to Brosnan's narration, I'm not sure what it was but I just couldn't stand it, that narration (for me anyway) just ruined the special, and I had high hopes set for it too.
Baldwin's narration is the best to me for the American narrators, but that's just probably due to me watching TATMRR many, many times over as a child.
Carlin is a close second for the American narrators. I get the feeling that had I not grown up with TATMRR being my only way of seeing the American narration, Carlin may have been my favourite for the American narrators.
Michael Brandon's narration is just not something I ever enjoyed...at all. We're all entitled to our opinions, but overall for me, he was the weakest narrator.

After seeing most episodes of seasons 7-12 on youtube, I must admit...Angelis's narration took quite a dive (especially at around season 9 onwards), to the point where he just seemed tired and bored and he just didn't seem to put the same effort into it that he did in seasons 3-6. My preference in narrator has taken a shift anyway to Ringo Starr for the British narration, even if his voice is a little too deep and monotone he still takes place as my favourite for the British narration's, with Angelis (seasons 3-7) at a close second, I choose to disregard his later narrations anyway, I haven't much cared for the series after season 5, season 6 had enough to stand in my viewpoint but for me season 7 marked the beginning of the end, and then season 8 hammered that point home for me.
Only recently has the series managed to pick itself up, although regardless of the quality of the episodes, I almost always enjoyed the movies/specials (with Calling all Engines being my one exception). Anyway I went off on a tangent (my apologies)
And last but not least, Mark Morghan; here we seem to be receiving an Angelis imitation, but maybe slightly more refined than Angelis's more recent work (as I mentioned earlier his narration did decline later on in his run, in my opinion). I look forward to seeing more of what he has in store for us, but overall, here is my final list
1. Ringo
2. Morghan (provided he can maintain his current standard)
3. Baldwin and Angelis
Carlin is at a very close 4th spot for me
5. Brosnan
6. Brandon

(It is of note that I haven't seen much of the series post season 13, with the exception of the movies that have been released since then, so I do not know enough to judge Angelis or Brandon fairly in the post season 12 era)

I hope my opinions did not offend anyone. I never claimed anything I said was fact, just opinion. If my opinion does offend you I'm sorry for that as I do not seek to offend, the whole point of this post was to throw my 2 cents into the ring :)
