General Discussion / Re: A Polar Express Set in HO
December 09, 2011, 11:10:08 AM
I'm sure bachmann can work somthing out with lionel, some of the williams by bachmann O scale trains are based off older lionel products. I'm sure they can possibly receive permisson to make an HO scale set.

HO / Re: Using Youtube
December 01, 2011, 12:18:28 PM
Glad to hear you got a youtube account! The video itself isn't as bad as it may look, your filming was very smooth, and the pixelated is clear enough to see the engine and scenery (watched it on my phone). Hopeing to see more videos in the future and will subscribe! (Seeing your pictures over the couple years I've been here have been excellent, I'm sure the videos are just as good.)

Thomas & Friends / Re: Edward's smokin'!

Funny story about smoke... I was running a bachmann GE70-ton at the model railroad club i go to and the little guy blew out a traction motor! *NOT LITERATELY, IT JUST SMOKED* Picked up the engine, took it off the layout and set it in the yard and it worked fine, no more smoke, i was starting to panic... traffic was being tied up from a local i had passed up... luckily the driver broke the rules and held up a passenger, so i had time to reset it on the tracks and high ball it into a siding, where i was gonna drop off 6 covered hoppers along with the loco to Danville Grain. Its funny how smoke works with bachmann engines. I've ran my little guy a couple more times after it and its just fine... but track got dirty once more so its in the sheds till i bring it back out when track conditions are better.

HO / Re: I need ideas for my first train layout
November 25, 2011, 01:48:25 PM
a good starting question is, do you want to do industrial, a yard, a main line, a branch line... etc. Or a combination of a few of them. Also, whats your maximum amount of space you can have for a layout? Freelanced or prototypical? These are good questions to answer to get a better idea what you want to work with.

Sorry for bringing this back up, its been 4 days, but it was on the second page...

ANYWAY, as i said in the beginning, i was looking for something to hold alcohol in and what i meant was, something you can stick in a freight car, and it wont spill (you know how slack works wonders with making a smooth run a bit ruff). i had one of my old film cases (the container that holds the film when you get it out of the box) and it works perfectly! To make sure it was right, filled it halfway with alcohol and then i tipped it over upside down, it passed that and then, chucked it at my fence, and it stayed sealed and not a spill. So if you got one of these containers laying around and you like my idea, I'd recommend adding it!

^ (note not my picture, and some cases are pure black, i recommend clear)

General Discussion / Re: Another Hobby Store Goes Under
November 20, 2011, 09:21:07 PM
yea, got 2 hobby shops that are a close. (4 streets away and 17.7 miles) The hobby town i used to go to went down, but not so hard. It had a buy one get free. It was not bad, i bought 10 freight cars and picked up 4 more last summer while they still had stuff in stock... but that was only model trains. Their RC cars and planes was what kept them in business.

The 4 streets away is Wingz Hobby shop. They've been in business longer than my dad being in 1st grade (when he moved into lakewood, ohio). My grandpa knew the original owner (father of the current owner) quite well. At wingz, they make their money from the trains, but make a good amount from planes too. The main difference i can think of is its family owned. I think some hobby shops will last longer than others, but there may be a time where everything is ordered online... waiting for an order is great... but i prefer walking home looking at a new freight car or passenger car I've been saving up for knowing i'll be running it when i get home.

November 19, 2011, 11:36:28 PM
Dear Mr. Bachmann or any other bachmann officials,

Do you know what horns will be included in the new sound decoders? Really hoping for a Wabaco E-2!

General Discussion / Good strategy to clean swithces
November 17, 2011, 11:46:00 PM
I was assigned to clean switches today at the CV&WS model railroad club, but wanted to run trains... so, i got a 2 gondolas, a caboose and my Bachmann spectrum 4-4-0 out of Cuyahoga yard(first clip is it leaving cuyahoga yard) and set off to work! It was actually pretty efficient, because i didn't have to come back for more Q-tips or carry them around and forget them (a couple junior members have a habit of leaving them on the layout). Now if only i can find a way to kit bash a proper alcohol car for the job...but that's for another day  :P

This is worth a try to make your track cleaning chores a bit easier (and a bit more fun...).

HO / price range for Blue box SD9s
November 13, 2011, 08:45:06 PM
I hope someone can help me on this one...

The CV&WS model railroad club is selling its old locomotives to make room for new ones, and no one seems to want them. I fell in love with 2 SD9s, and im actually considering them now and getting a bachmann S4 later (maybe for Christmas). The paint is a bit chipped, engines were stored, never ran for at least 2-3 years, will test run them on Thursday with a train (have it run up the helix and back down, along with going through a crossover) if i get permission to. They have DCC (soldered wires, not plugged in or built in) in them, so i at least wanna give them a try.

Anyone know how much these are probably worth as a pair?

Thats a video i took almost 2 years ago, i clearly remember it was sort of like a green house, and the ho scale trains ran on the same turf G scale trains would run on. Don't know if you'd have the money to do it, but its a second idea if you cant truly get it outside, you can always go for the next best thing.  :)

it takes 1 thread to start 101 threads, 1 more post in the wishlist would be less of a hastle, plus people looking on the subject will find this easier  ::)
