I agree, a different colored version would be nice..and jeez I looked up the new walthers 90' DCC one and it's aaaaakkkk 350.00...surely it can't cost that much to make one of these things...

I agree...wonder why he's selling it is what boggles me. From all of his listing and his remarks on them I think he does. I never saw any pics or anything, but by what he's said he did/has one...but over 8,000 pieces? I can't even imagine that.....

I dont know if the  cruise ships will ever adapt but all the navy is getting rid of the diesel engines and moving to gas turbines. I was on the DDG52 a few years back, we had one diesel engine on board and that was used to distilled the water, 4 main power plants, 3 generator sets, all gas turbine, the mains were GE DC10 engines basically, and the generator sets were allison k35's. Very impressive though - moored and then up and going at full speed within one minute. We also had reversable pitch propellars which meant we could be going full speed forward switch the props and then be going backwards...full stop from full foward 450 yards..and  you wanted to be holding on to something and the wall of water that came over the back end was monstrous when first iniitated! But I know the railraod tried it and it didn't really work..probably wasn't cost effecient enough for them. At full speed - just 1 of the main engines used 1,000 gallons of gas per nautical mile, but hey, we held 450,000 gallons of full in the belly!   ;D

54 hoppers some never opened.

and

15 of these!

54 of these, some never opened.

I pretty much got what I was after, it came down to the wire within the last 10 seconds of bidding though on all three of these.

Anywho just thought I would share! =) Yeah, I'm very happy.

thanks for the heads up Joe, and you are correct, this was just an exercise to see the tightest curves that would fit with #6 crossovers for jb. Here is my layout I'm working on right now below. =)

turnouts are 4's and 5's all curves are 22 or higher and the 2 crossovers are the #6's. All EZ track except for the pieces of flex track that you can tell on the pic! The tables are 5x8's (4 of them)

However I do appreciate the caution. It's always nice to know that we trainiacs have others looking over our shoulders and helping to guide us!

I made a bigger yard with this 4x8 plan and some optional industries as well. The options are pretty wide open!

here ya go..two plans done real quick in Anyrail. Both use the #6 Crossovers the outside loop is 22", the second is 20" -using 22's & 18's alternating, and the inside loop is 18". So with both of these plans you could have 3 trains running, two circling and one doing yard work. =) You could put a third isolated loop in with 18's, I guess if you wanted that to be a trolly or something, but you couldn't get to the outer two tracks with it and it would have to have it's own power supply. Anywho, there ya go! Both of these layouts are on a 4x8 board. Question answered!

I must say I think it's going to hurt him putting all these up at one time though....maybe some of us will get lucky...I reached my limit on one though...it's worth more but 250.00 was my limit. *sigh* why couldn't i hit the lottery last week!!!! ARRRRGGGHHHH! I've also noticed that he's shortened the auction time to 5 days now instead of the original 7. =)

thanks for the comment, yeah, I figured I have enough industry and lay lines to keep me busy if I want to let the trains just run and run and run...my son loves to watch them go round and round. Also what you can't see in the top view is the over under I'm going to attempt in the top left hand corner. If I can pull it off I think it will look pretty neat. There is also going to be a train museum added to the layout along with the diner that will be two amtrak passenger cars set up one up the hill from the other. Hopefully I can light these and it will look pretty neat as well.

This is for Raz and the rest of you. I ran across this the other day while looking around for some SD40-2 IC's... this is one of the better 4x8's I've seen in action. It has a lot of stuff set out really nice and it looks great considering the 4x8 can be folded up for storage. So see, Raz, even with a 4x8 you can make one truly great looking model railroad and scenes!
