Hi WM

Been really busy this Summer. My 8th Grader son All-Star team won their championship

Sunday and now it's on to the Regionals. We are doing a lot of traveling I could have bought some nice steamers with the money spent on gas.

I like that scale Hudson. Is that a new release?? Can I get it from my buddies at Trainworld??

Stay cool in the basement and run trains, its HOT out there!!!

More later

Ditto what you said about the NW-2's Wm

I have 4 of them and would like to get a couple more in the future.

If they do have new sound systems will we be able to replace the ones we have now with the new systems.

I ave to confess after listening to what these sound systems are capable of I really like the sounds. The other option is I hope there is an on/off switch as there are times I just want to run the trains without any sound.

If you have to ship I found the USPS flat rate boxes a great deal!!!!!!!!!

There is plenty of room to house the GG-1 just make sure you have a lot of bubble wrap around it

Thanks Lee!!

My schedule has been overwhelming lately so my access time to fun things like this site have been very limited.
Have a great 4th of July keep our founding Fathers and our Constitution in mind.

Later everybody!!!

I also wanted to take the time to thank all those who have helped me with ideas and suggestions and problem solving. It has helped me to really enjoy the hobby with my son and his friends. I have met a lot a good folks along the way who are knowledgeable and would call my friends.

My trip to Florida is a case in point. I just happened to show up at the place I like to go to and a bunch of hobbyists were enjoying the hobby shops new coffee/espresso machine and we got into a 2 hour conversation about trains, the hobby and "stuff".
As a result I picked up a few items and was also happy to get my godson fired up about trains again and we bought some items for him too!!!

Take care everyone

Forgot to mention some after market companies are working on systems for diesel and Steam with sound systems that attempt to mimic specific locomotives. I have no idea what price levels as no one knows but that would be pretty amazing if that happens.

My guess is that this hobby will be able to pull in more young people with some of this electronic razz ma tazz. Not to mention baby boomers who are now grandparents and are rediscovering the fun and relaxation of this hobby.

While down in Florida went to visit the Train Store at his new location. THis fella has his "ear to the rail" with rumor and hearsay and did mention Bachmann "may" be working on a system we can "plug in". After a lenghty conversation with some of the electronic "geeks"(and I mean that respectfully as these guys are engineers)I wasn't aware how complicated expensive and difficult this stuff is.

BUT

It is being worked on and they said it will sound like the real deal!!!!!!!!!!

Large / Re: Large Scale Track
June 02, 2013, 01:56:56 PM
Just found out today TRAINWORLD has a big sale on FLAT CARS in G-Scale!!!!

At least I may have some for 4th of July if they don't sell out.

Just as an aside, I never expected to be into the Large scale outside.

Yesterday after baseball games some friends came over and we were relaxing outside

Joey brought some trains out and the kids were able to keep busy with the trains and we guys were able to get through a beer and some conversation.

I am really liking the idea of just keeping it up all Summer outside-as if I need another project.

If it's any help or consolation, at one of the "Train" shows the Bachmann rep was relating that in their starter sets all the components were high quality not cheaper versions, so that folks could add on to their sets.

I found this to be true on the Large Scale and O-Gauge on the the more recently produced sets.

Just to get back to everyone.

Weekend went well. It rained on Memorial Day but dried up later. We dried off the track

and everything worked without a hitch. The kids stayed outside even the grown-ups were wandering over to the table I had set up near the track to catch some of the action.

The New power pak is awesome very easy to use. Slow speed start ups and slow decelerations it was fun.

I was never able to get the flat cars. I didn't realize flat cars were so popular!! Most places I contacted were sold out.

Thanks everyone for all the input. I did take some video and once I get the time to post it I will do it!!!

Large / Re: G-scale sound from Bachmann

Thanks for the info. I will attempt it as one of my Summer projects I hope you and Kevin don't mind if I ask a lot of questions.

I used to never try to do anything with these trains but when my son was given some old ones I experimented and lost that anxiety about messing something up.

I am truly grateful there are a lot of knowledgeable folks on these train forums!!!
