HO / Re: Roundhouse or Bachamnn 4-4-0

I would be most hesitant if considering the Roundhouse. While the engine itself may be acceptable (after detailing) the sound/dcc is the MRC and has a iffy at best reputation.

Not interested in a 4-8-0, however a Spectrum 2-6-2 would be another story..........

HO / Re: Bachmann 2-8-4 question

My layout has mainly 22" radius curves, however in a couple of areas I do have some 18" radius curves. Would this engine be able to handle the 18" curves or would I have to relay the track?

My vote would be for the USRA Pacific engine in the Spectrum line. I would note that the new Standard Berkshire comes in a few variants, hence the USRA Pacific could also come with a few differences as well.

HO / Re: Which DCC System to get
December 21, 2007, 02:43:25 PM
I have a Bachmann EZ DCC controler and functions just fine for my layout. Note that it is indeed a starter set.

However, the lack  of  being able to program CV's will at some point make me change to a new DCC system.

For those that have misplaced their manual for this unit there is a manual for download on this site. Check main menu.

SteamGene - What was the cause of your new engine's malfunction? Am waiting to buy one of these but want feedback from owners such as yourself if you are satisfied with the engine.

General Discussion / Re: The favorite spot on Ebay
December 17, 2007, 06:11:29 PM
I have shopped with this vendor on a number of occassions and have had no problem with the vendor.

On the other hand I have had to start a claim with PayPal after waiting a month for the item. The vendor immediately provided me with the shipping essentials for the package and the package was found.

The item was sitting at Canada Customs for almost a month before being processed.

I certainly can not faulth the vendor for that.

I would shop at the Favorite Spot any time.

Have only now ran and tested the new 2-6-6-2 I recently bought. I forgot how well this particular engine runs.

On CD rhe slow speed response is fantastic. What is the recommended DCC unit for this engine?.

On DCC the engine can only run better and I can hardly wait to try the unit out on DCC.

HO / Re: Your latest bachmann engines.

Recently obtained another Spectrum 2-6-6-2 and am waiting for additional news/reports on the newly released Berkshire before I commit to acquire at least one of those.

I too was wondering about the 2-6-6-2 releases, I assume that other than sound there are no mechanical differences between the earlier 2-6-6-2 units and the new sound units.

Perhaps someone who has the new units as well as the first release units could verify?
