General Discussion / Re: new to this

Hunt,
Thanks again, those are definitely helpful.  I had seen comparisons before, but they didn't show the same engines. They had shown a 1/20.3 Forney next to a 1/48 Northern!

Thanks Yardmaster and Hunt.
I will see about finding a local DCC layout and ask if they can reset it for me.

Hunt,
Forgive my lapse. I forgot to mention I am running on a DC layout, not DCC.
Thanks,

On30 / whitcomb sound

Mr. Bach-man,
Just received my Whitcomb 50 ton diesel with the Tsunami sound module. Sound module, bell and horn installed in about ten minutes. Looks and runs great.
However, is there anyway to increase the volume? I would like it a bit louder.
Thanks,
Chuck

Mickey (and Bill)
You said you were operating the P8 on your DC layout.  I thought the P8 was for DCC and you were supposed to use the Phoenix PB11 for DC?  Is this correct?
Thanks,
Chuck

Yeah Joe,
And you can also build your locomotives out of toothpicks with a rubber band drive.

FX, check the latest issue of Model Railroader.  They are building an N scale layout and they are gluing the track to the roadbed.

Len,
Fxguy said he's using "pegboard stuff".  It's probably some type of Masonite which is too hard for track nails, unless you predrill each hole.  Perhaps the track should be glued to the roadbed with an adhesive caulk.  Just my two cents worth.

Good point, Roger.
However, I was referring to Don's post directly before mine.
Thanks,

And all posters should state what scale they are talking about.
