Thank you so much  Mr Bachman for the reply.

I am awaiting a reply from the retailer in the USA but it is sleep time there at the momment. Failing any joy from that. Could I have the contact details of Mr Zimbler, please ?

Thanks very much, again.

Kindest Regards

I've just had a real detailed look at the drive shaft under a magnifing glass and found both plastic cups split and upon turning the wheels around by hand found the gears were binding !!!  >:( >:( >:( >:(This is why the cups had split.

Mr Bachman.  Should I just send the offending truck and drive shafts back to the Bachman fixit depot for a replacement or what should I do? Help please. ??? ???

Thanks in advance

On30 / Climax Drive Shaft
October 06, 2008, 08:10:45 PM
Hi guys,

Not 2 minutes ago I put a brand new, out of the box,  Climax on my track and it ran for 30 seconds max.

Then the front drive shaft started to slip and  then it fell off the metal conecting stub right behind the trailing edge of the rear of the bogie and the front bogies wouldn't turn. I started it real slow and really carefully as I am well aware of some of the problems with these geared lokeys that you guys are having with them.

Any ideas on how to fix it locally? I live in New Zealand so don't want to have to return the whole shebang back to the States for fixing.

Disappointed? You bet !!!  It should go a lot longer than that. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???   Bring on the Heisler, I say !!!!

Well it seems there isn't going to be a Heisler any time soon. So I succumed to a Ridge Road Station Climax that they had for sale earlier this week at US$75.

But as soon as a Heisler turns up ; it is bye, bye Climax hello you loverly Heisler................

Small. 30 ish tons and 'I' frame. I do like the photo of the one above even if it is a diamond frame.

Although I do wonder how many more years we will have to keep bleating about wanting one.

That is maybe. But the lack of a Heisler is totally keeping me out of spending any more  ON30. Sure we had Climax's here ( 7 actually) but the Climax doesn't do much for me.

So Mr B. What's the story?

If Bachman was to make a Heisler, and I mean : IF; what style would people be interesed in:

a: the ' I ' frame lighter weight Heisler

or

b: the  'diamond' framed heaver weight Heisler.

Myself, I would love the 'I' frame. We had 7 of them imported to New Zealand in the early part of last century.

General Discussion / Re: DCC questions and insite

The problem with the 2 locos is quite simple. The eletric motor.  The electric motors in model locos are not made to a super fine tolerance so the slight variations in manufacture will mean they won't run at exactly the same revs. as each other given the same elecrical input .

I have 3 Rivarossi Heislers and they are  all running at differant speeds with the same input. Sorry, it's a fact of life.

I just run my small amount of 0n30 stuff on my Sn3.5 ( 1/64th, sn42, s, NZ64 etc, what ever you want to call it) New Zealand bush tram railway. Goes just fine. Trees are trees in any scale. !!! ( Really must convert a Rivvarossi Heisler into On30, 'cos Bachman aint going to do it in On30 and I have already have done 2 in 1/64th) ;D ;D ;D ;D

And for those of us you live about as far away from the USA as one can get, ie over seas, a phone call is  expensive. Throw in time differances and email is about the only option.
