Your roof looks as if it just came out of the paint shop.  Why not weather it, also, as it is usually the first part to feel the ravages of weather, time and sun.  The most common aging process of a roof is places where the paint has come off due to severe contact with rain or ice.  This is characterized by big blotches of bare (or rusted) steel showing through.  On an active prototype car, rust usually was not allowed to become too advanced, for obvious reasons.

Did I miss a picture, I can not see the roof details of the weathered car only the car before weathering?

I have four 85  foot amtrak passenger cars with the old horn hook couplers, I  would like to convert them to the newer types. I also have some truck mounted freight cars that I would like to convert as well. Thanks for any assistance.

Best check the Kaydee site for their conversion info.

http://www.kadee.com/conv/hocc14.htm

The information on the site is for a number of Bachmann passenger cars.
re: 85' Bud Coach - Amtrack - use #38 Coupler conversions

OTher Bachmann passenger cars use the following:

85' cars is to use #37 coupler conversion kits

Spectrum Heavyweight cars to use #27 conversion kits

1998 Passenger cars to use #5 or #58

For the majority of rolling stock with Talgo trucksuse the #5 or # 39 couplers.

You might wait on buying the booster.  I can run eight (8) Bachmann DCC locos with the basic EZ Command 1 amp system.  Yes, there is a slight reduction in speed but I only run freight cars so a little speed loss is no issue for me.  Bob

8 engines at one time? Can not imagine that myself.

I  can only handle 4 max, even then that is pushing it.

I guess I am just getting old...........

I wonder if this request for another 2-8-0 might be directed to one of the manufactures who have not currently available a 2-8-0?

Perhaps Walthers as part of their Heritage line?

In the Walther's catalog page 596, there is a listing for "Scale Structures Limited". They have a 110'-130' (apparently adjustable) #650-1124 for $71.95.

I know nothing about the turntable or it's quality.  Just another option.

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/650-1124

I imagine the Walthers is better quality, they show list at $299, don't know what the street price is, or the best source.

If a 90' will work for you, Walther's has an "economy" model 933-3171 for $44.98. Currently out of stock,  ETA July.  (catalog shows $39, they must have raised the price)

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-3171

Good luck
Bob

Be aware that there is some negative comments on the old Walthers turntable kit as to quality.

Note that while the old kit is a lot less than the new RTR it may be problematic.

General Discussion / Re: E-Z Command

I assume you are talking about the basic DCC unit which I have and run a portion of my layout with.

The basic E-Z Command  comes with a 1 amp power supply which supplies 1 amp of DCC power to the track continuously and up to 1.5 amps at peak power.

The number of locomotives will you can run at once will depend on the current draw of each of the locomotives.

Newer locomotives can require less then 1/4 of an amp,  older locomotives can draw much more. Note these would be non-sound units.

It would then be possible to operate up to 5 dcc equipped locomotives at one time, but that would really pushing its limits. I have run three engines at a time with no problem. Note that these do not have sound.

Should you want to run sound equipped engines you would be lucky to run two at a time. Sound engines require significant more amperage.

Note that the basic unit does not have a aux supply source for remote powered switches or building lighting etc. You will need another power source for them.  An old dc transformer will do fine for those.

Thanks, GN.2-6-8-0, thought that may be the type.

Like I mentioned that is one nice streamlined tender.

There was another thread regarding 4-8-4's and their tender types which reminded me of a NP picture of a 4-8-4.

This is obviously not a Vandy tender, what is the description of this tender. It certainly is streamlined.

There is even a drawing available for this tender.

Someone mentioned it on the forum, don't remember when or by whom. I can't verify it since I only started in 2007.  Could just be "gossip".

Bob

Certainly can not think of any Spectrum engines, at least in steam that were later re-released in the Standard line. Perhaps the diesel engines?

With Bachmann releasing the very popular 2-8-0 I certainly do not see another 2-8-0 in the works any time soon.

However that certainly does not mean that we can not ask(wish)  for what we would like.

Interesting choice you are requesting.

What with the Roundhouse 2-8-0 offering of late I do not see Bachmann being overly interested in bringing out a model so similar.

I would rather see the mogul or prairie models that others are requesting.

Well, I heard once that many of the steamers now in the standard line were once Spectrum models, and they were moved to standard to make room for more high end items like sound, Berks, and other stuff.

I remember  the Bachmann Plus line of steamers and know that they are now part of the Standard Spectrum line.  However, I was unaware that any Spectrum engines were now part of the Standard Line.

Can anyone coment on this statement?

I know I'm starting this early as the 2008 releases are just to hit the shelves.  But can we ask Bachmann for a 2-6-0 Spectrum?  I'd love to see it released at least dcc ready, but with the dcc and Tsunami would be a bonus ( I'd order mine now ).  The Mogul was huge up in this area ( the Boston and Maine ).  Sorry Roundhouse, your 2-6-0 is not "up to snuff" as long as a MRC sound decoder is installed.  So how about it?  These must be more Mogul fans than just me right?

How about a nice B-15 for example?

I would gladly support your request for a Spectrum 2-6-0, would buy one for sure, if not more.

Also needed would be a Spectrum 2-6-2 Prairie.

Well with the pictures available you can claim to be prototypical if you wanted.

No surprise but the GTW 4-8-4's also ran Vandy tenders.

Prototypically, I know of no 4-8-4 with a Vanderbilt tender, especially a 16,000 gallon one. By the time the 4-8-4 appeared, technology had caught up with the Vandy.  AFAIK, the 4-6-4, 2-8-4, and 4-8-4 never had a Vandy, though the VT&P doesn't know that.  ;D

Check out the CN 4-8-4's with the Vandy.
