Mr B. I got your email telling me about this but Thunderbird sees this email as a potential scam.
So i deleted it.
Maybe next time you test your mail before sending.

Cleaning the woodwork from plaster splatter is going to be a hell of a job.
Look impressive never the less.

I have a Revell Big boy in my display cabinet next to a model of the first Dutch steam locomotive.
The biggest and the smallest next to each other.
I also had a H0n3 Roundhouse model of a outside frame steam loco.
It doesn't live here any more.
I gave it to a friend and it lives in his display case these days.
I don't know how it was in the US but here we had 00 Airfix kits of steam locomotives and rolling stock.

I don't know mr. Fahrenheit but is was exceptionally hot here in the Netherland.
Upto 36 deg. C.
So not much action here either.

No one wanted?
Then i am an exception as i have six of them.
One i converted to a t version and i painted one in the original Engenio de Angelina sugar mill colours.
I reality only one was made for the aforementioned mill.
I'm using one on a Hn16 diorama.
That's 1:24 on 16 inch garden track.
Just for fun.

That's what they call a kickswitch.
You just kick it where you want it to be.

I used the soundboard from a Porter.
Took me a while to build it in and out because all wires are black.
I used a larger speaker instead of the puny sounder from the porter.

What about a Bluetooth TX instead of a speaker in the locomotive.
Then you could use a smart phone or a PC to receive and listen with headphones.

The only thing i can come up with are microphones and an amplifier.

The standard boxcar frames are made for the standard boxcar archbar trucks.
The screws that come with those frames go through the frames into the floor section of the boxcar.
I myself used M 2.5  screws.
You can tap a good thread into the frame.
If you don't have M2.5 , M 3 also works fine.

no problem at all.

You say the decoder is fine.
How do you know when the motor is not turning over?
Have you tried resetting the decoder?
Setting CV8 to 8.
the locomotive address will revert to 3.
Fault finding is a process of eliminating, what's left is probably the offending article.

The light works so the wheels pick up power, as in electricity and not motive power.
See if you can get the motor working by applying a direct voltage to the motor.
If it doesn't turn , you found the problem.
If it does the problem is somewhere between the motor and the wheels.

Btw, before you start tearing the locomotive up, is it DC or DCC?

QuoteWhen I am criticized for 'playing with trains', I reply its better than video gamers staring at the boob tube or binge watching TV movies/shows.

Right you are.  The evolutionary purpose of "play" is to achieve learning experiences that have practical applications in real life.

Model railroading provides a rich environment for learning all sorts of useful lessons, from history, through small parts construction techniques, carpentry and electrical system construction, right into futuristic processes like computer programming and robotic control.  We each get to chose what parts we want to play with.

Totally agree.
But most people don't understand what the hobby is all about.
And then you get stupid ignorant remarks.
Makes my blood boil sometimes.

General Discussion / Re: Bachman plugs

I usually use a small watchmakers screwdriver to lever the female connector out.
A tip is to glue down the mail connector to the pcb with a tiny drop of superglue.
I had several of those that broke away from the soldering on the pcb.
