This is at Martinsburg, W.Va...

Thanks for this. Looks like a possible overnight trip via MARC from DC

BTW, Does anybody remember, back in the 80's, MARC had a very popular train on the Brunswick Line (B&O Metropolitan Branch) that ran from Washington DC to Martinsburg WV. Pulled by two F units back to back followed by 13 ex Pennsy coaches, the train in MARC's second (current) paint scheme silver with blue and orange stripes. It was a beautiful, classic train, the favorite of local railfans who dubbed it "The City Of Martinsburg." I occasionally got lucky and caught the train passing at the Forest Glen (Silver Spring MD) grade crossing on my way home from work :D

I see ABC and Chris350 have provided links to available models. I haven't been following this model, but it appears that a second run will be available in October 2010 according to Peach Creek Shops.

Dear All,
I thought you Thomas fans might enjoy this site:

Thanks for this :D I've always wanted a small layout upstairs away from the big one in the basement. What an inspiration! http://mickthornton.fotopic.net/p58197579.html

you dont have to be from ct to join but i started this group yesterday and i would like to get some members !

Thanks, I just joined (manytraveler). I'm not from Connecticut but traveled to the Groton/New London area frequently for work. That's where I discovered the wonderful Valley Railroad with its steam trains and "commodious riverboat" :D A great shop there and magnificent locomotives. It's one of my favorite places. I've traveled there for pleasure a few times as well, including the early 90's circle trip on the P&W behind the SY #142 locomotive. I have the Bachmann model of that loco (unlettered) and have always wanted to make some of those beautiful green, open vestibule coaches. I look forward to enjoying your group.

Just a link from Railway Preservation News on a recently completed restoration of an 1863 4-6-0, which included the change to its original number

Wow, Thanks for this. And seeing the 4-6-0 coupled to a GP-7, why it's just like on my layout! ;D

Seriously, That is an interesting story about how the museum used its insurance settlement money to build a restoration facility rather than use it to restore a third of the damaged rolling stock which it would have covered. A wise decision.

The restored 147 is a handsome companion now to another beauty No. 25 William Mason.

They are mounted to the body. Look here:

I have two of these locos. They are nice runners.

Do you think you could glue or epoxy those rails back in place then touch them up with a little black paint? Looks like just five spots. You might not be able to do them all at once. And remember with glue or coatings, clean surface preparation is 90% of the job.

I notice that almost everyone here uses Photobucket. I participate in another (non-train) forum and almost everybody there uses Flickr. I need to use one of these but don't know which to choose. What do posters on this forum use and why?

Thanks!

You guys can ponder the vagaries of SP's cabs forward (there were several classes) all you want, but I'm going to be true to my favorite directionally challenged locomotive, the Beyer-Garrett!   ;)

Yea, those are some strange looking beasts. An associate pointed out that the water tanks over the drivers provide great traction. I've got several South African videos from Russ Scholl Productions featuring these locos.
