Bach-Man is correct. All that you get is diesel horn and bell or steam whistle and bell. You get no diesel engine rev or steam chuff. There is also no cab chatter. That is okay by me. I currently have 3 WbB diesels and 1 WbB steam locomotive and all are great runners and an exceptional value for the money.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Newbie in O scale

Bill, there are so many different brands and types of O Gauge track out there. Your best bet is to take a look at them all and talk to people who use the different systems. The better O sectional track is quite pricey. You can find decent usable pre-owned track out there also. I guess O Gauge track would be Code 100 and 027 would be Code 83 or less. It is usually best in my opinion to stick with one type of track. My current layout is an 8'6" x 13'10" C-shaped layout that uses Lionel's FasTrack. I have been quite pleased with it, but it is somewhat expensive. :( As a newbie your best bet may be to go with Williams by Bachmann or Lionel tinplate track. That is probably the most economical way to go. I would recomend the O track opposed to the 027 as it is more sturdy.

I currently own four Williams locomotives. My favorite has to be my Santa Fe ABA F3s. I always wanted Lionel's version and never got one. I looked at used Lionel Santa Fe F3s at train shows and realized that I could get a superior looking and also brand new product by buying Williams. Actually, ;D my wife bought the A units for me for Christmas a few years ago and I went back to the shop and ordered the B unit. Next in order of preference is my Pennsy Hudson, Pennsy Alco FA AAs and last but not least my C&O BL2. All are great running pieces and all have excellent paint jobs. Thank you Williams/ Williams by Bachmann for such a great product! ;D

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Hopper Cover and Coal Load
August 31, 2010, 08:56:06 PM
3rail, that would be a great move by Bachmann to make the coal loads, covered hopper lids and barrels for the gondola cars available for seperate sale! There are alot of Lionel freight cars out there crying for these parts. How about seperate sale Berkshire large tenders in a few major road names to go with our  old Lionel 2046 and 2056 small Hudsons. Maybe NYC, PRR, ATSF and UP to start? I am not a big fan of the 2046 stream-lined tender, but I love the Williams By Bachmann large die-cast tender that came with my Pennsy small Hudson! What do you think guys and gals?  ;)

I also like the idea of selecting a car from the catalog when you join the WBB Club. I don't care for fantasy roadnames or fantasy paint schemes, such as Santa Fe warbonnet on tank cars or boxcars which "The Big L and The Big MT..." seem to be into doing now days.

Williams by Bachmann / 2010 Williams Catalog
June 16, 2010, 09:10:13 PM
I just got my 2010 Williams Catalog last weekend. NICE! I am an O Scale guy, but the Large Scale "Old West Style" narrow gauge trains really caught my eye. HMM....

I agree, run two powered units. I do that with some of my Lionel GPs and RS3s. ;D

I would sure like to see an ABA set of scale Alco FAs done in the same black and yellow paint scheme for the Erie Railroad as is being done on the 027 Alco FAs. ;D
