Not to be rude to everyone involved in this, but this is a bit of a silly thing to post on a Model Trains forum. I might direct you do the Sodor Island Forums; their discussions are more rounded in terms of being about all aspects of the Thomas-verse.  ;)

http://sodor.proboards.com

The reason why it was posted, is because UPTODAY wanted to confirm he had seen one in the Thomas & Friends TV Series. He must have a got confused or something.
I think RyanGNR's point is that this kind of topic can easily be brought up in The Everything Thomas Thread, but could also be more suited to a website more generalised to the Thomas franchise, not Bachmann specifically. Now as this thread has served its due course, I recommend we cease posting and let it stop appearing. It's already outstretched it's original welcome I think, granted I'm making it worse, but I'm trying to tie off any loose ends.
Anyway, my best wishes to all, and I bid you all adieu for now,
~Alex

I agree with BassTBone, that wasn't even very harsh, I was very young and very foolish when I joined on my first account, back in late 2010, I had more than the best part of two entire topics specifically created just to call out behaviour of members (and very particularly me), in hopes of straightening it out.
What you see above; that was mere friendly advice. Certainly no public chewing out of one's rear end. I eventually deleted that first account after straightening out my behaviour just to get away from all the negative connotations and baggage that account had. You were only being given some minor advice on a...somewhat minor issue, to stop spamming the board, again, that was far from harsh. Believe me, there was nothing wrong with what was suggested earlier. And this isn't any kind of chewing out either, this is also just some friendly advice, don't be mistaken about the intentions of giving that advice.

Hi everybody!A while back on tv I thought I saw a lavender brake van?Am I losing it?
OLD GEZZZER IN PORTLAND

Do you mean in the TV Series of Thomas and Friends? I don't recall a lavender coloured brake van ever appearing in any epsiode, perhaps it could be one's eyes playing tricks on them, which is normal, it happens to the best of us :)

When in doubt, the TTTEWikia generally is very reliable at steering people in the right direction, to date I have seen no brake van coloured lavendar, but I wouldn't put it past brands like Trackmaster or Learning Curve to add one to their ranges respectively.

For more information on brakevans throughout the series (and a good gallery of references for what they looked like), this link should be rather helpful:
http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Brakevans
As I said before, I don't recall them ever having existed in the Thomas and Friends TV Series, and given brakevans are only really coming back now that the writing quality is improving, I don't think the animators or the script writers/editors or story board artists would introduce a lavender brakevan.

More video of Skarloey running.
I was honestly expecting Skarloey to be closer in size to the Tomix Thomas model than he appears in that video, then again I guess I didn't take into consideration how it would all scale up. Especially with Skarloey's cab, the rest of his model seems almost the same height as Thomas's...then one gets to the cab, however the Tomix Thomas is a Standard Gauge Engine in N scale, whereas Skarloey is an HO scale engine that runs on N scale track, I suppose I should've given that some greater thought before now, but I suppose I just forgot to take that into consideration. Woops :P

Would anyone who has any of Tomix's Thomas range run perhaps some of the freight wagons with Skarloey...if they can negotiate the coupling difference, and I know usig standard gauge stock with a narrow gauge engine is a bit of a faux pas, but I mean, until more stock gets released it could add some flare to the models...right? not to mention the faces from Tomix Troublesome Trucks could be used on the faceless Open Wagons, right? Or is there too much of a scaling difference that prevents that...?

Anyway, my convoluted thoughts aside, thank you BassTBone for sharing :)

Thank you for sharing the video, looks like a fantastic model and a fantastic runner, I look forward greatly to the Narrow Gauge range being expanded

Thomas & Friends / Re: tidmouth turntable
December 19, 2015, 07:40:39 AM
Considering that, from memory, the turntable is only just big enough for a Bachmann Spencer, I'd say so...but the sheds themselves really are quite nice...though granted I no longer have a layout and may not for a little while, so I have time to weigh up my choices, as I also own 2 A4's, an A1 and an A3, none of which would fit on the turntable...however to those who own no locks bigger than say...Bachmann Spencer, I highly recommend the sheds and turntable. Back to the actual topic at hand though, since this digression has strayed from the original purpose of the topic, after a quick Google search it seems that the Tidnouth Turntable is not able to be motorised...from what it would appear anyway, from memory though, Bachmann do produce a nigh-on identical Turntable that can be motorised in their regular HO range, from memory at least...I am happy to be corrected if that is wrong though.

Does the round green knob feel cheap and nasty, and that it might break if you are not careful with it?
My local model store had a demonstration model out on display once, the man let me turn the knob and look it over as I was considering buying it at the time...then I realised I didn't quite have enough for it anyway, but the man was very kind. Anyway more to the point; the knob felt quite sturdy and didn't feel like it would brake off if treated with proper care.

Let's drop this here before things get hostile. There's nothing wrong with anticipations. But it's best to be civil.
Agreed, anyway...this may sound like an odd question so I hope it makes sense, but what range is everyone looking forward to most next year? Like for example, if you (like me) are looking forward to Narrow Gauge the most, then you would say Narrow Gauge is the range you are most looking forward to...and what stock do you consider likely to occur in that range, and please bare in mind Bachmann is not learning curve, so they won't release 7 new toolings for one range next year...so if you do want to list them, please try to be realistic. This is an odd question but I thought it might stir up some interesting conversation, and since it's still about predictions for next year, it doesn't seem out of place here :)

Okay... Here's my wishlist for 2016, Starting with HO/00.

Locomotives (Standard Gauge)

~Rosie

Yes, I still want Bachmann to make her.

~Harvey

Keep your "Harvey's too tall to be HO/00 because of his crane" comments to yourselves.
That comes across as more than a little presumptuous that you would assume that already...also isn't a good part of predicitons the criticisms? They allow us to all reason and see other member's points of view on certain topics...that kind of reponse cuts off potential constructive criticism and to me at least, how presumptuous it seems almost comes off as offensive to other members, we're all here to give our two cents after all, but I think we should all also be willing to accept and give constructive criticism, there is nothing wrong with that...personally I'd like to see models of Harvey and Rosie in HO/OO but I recognise that, to me anyway, they seem unlikely.

Isn't the point of the forums to share ideas and thoughts anyway? It sounds close to counter-intuitive to prevent the spread of ideas or thoughts with that kind of "keep your comments on *insert topic, character, etc here* to yourself" mentality. I can sympathise with feeling frustrated on topics and feeling like your ideas aren't being paid attention to, but I do think being able to receive and give constructive criticism without negative feelings is a good thing for any member of any forum to be able to do. But then again, those are just my thoughts on constructive criticism...but I respect your opinions listed for what you want to see, and agree with most of them actually, but I'm not sure how likely they all may be (no offense intended by this), and hey, to each their own, right? :)

Anywayyyyyyyyy, is anyone else a little suprised Bachmann didn't release a Brakevan in Narrow Gauge this year to accompany the freight stock? Or is it just me? I'd say that my most anticipated piece of Narrow Gauge stock (for the time being) is a Brakevan, from there since the Narrow Gauge Brakevans of the classic series were all the same but in different colours, it seems only logical that when the time came to release coaches into the range, the grey/brown Brakevan could easily be repainted to Blue or Red to accompany any potential Narrow Gauge Coaches...but again, that's just my thoughts...

How did you work it out that there are 2 months until the official announcements, Alex? We have less than 1 month until January 2016, so we haven't even got a moth until the official announcements, never mind 2 months!
I'm sure another member can correct me if I'm wrong, but I probably meant closer to 1 and a bit months, as from memory the official announcements generally occur around February, often at a Toy Fair, if I'm not mistaken...I seem to recall Skarloey not being announced at the start of the year but rather around February...of course I could be completely wrong...

Perhaps another reason why alot of people aren't being very responsive isn't just because of Christmas, but also the time when most of us are trying to get through our final exams, and spend time studying. At times these days, I've often been thinking if I even have time for my Thomas interest.
Probably something I should've considered myself, I forget sometimes that finals are still on outside of Australia for a lot of students. That is a fantastic point, Metal :)

And on other note, I personally think it's best to wait for Bachmann's announcements next year, instead of making another 2016 thread, since the year's almost over anyway.
Well, true...but since there are 2 more months yet until the official announcements, I can understand the excitement some have, as well as the fun in predicting such announcements...also the fact that we are closer to the date, for some anyway, makes speculation even more interesting, as it can be fun to reason what releases may be just around the bend, even if Bachmann knows and we don't...Speculation can be a good thing.

The lack of responses from members other than Jacob scares me a bit... :-\
Don't be too concerned, many members on here live in completely different time zones and as their lives get busier in the holiday season, less time becomes available for the online world, it's hit me to an extent even, but don't be concerned about this thread getting deleted, I believe the old one was deleted due to copious amounts of spam from two trolls, in fact they spammed a few different topics as well (from memory).

Anyway I'm predicting that for the HO line, we will likely get Paxton and maybe a "new" truck/freight car of some kind, for myself anyway, I'm hoping for a brown Salt Van to be released with a face at some point...not sure how likely that is but that's just an idea...

Narrow Gauge: I imagine Bachmann will probably shift focus towards this range for a little while, I'd say especially in 2016 and 2017 (I could be entirely wrong though). Next year I'm hoping that we'll see Rheneas released into the range to join Skarloey, along with, at the very least, a brown Brakevan similar to that seen in season 4 that was used on freight trains (and for the Green and White Narrow Gauge Coaches), but ideally I'd hope they'd also add the Blue and White Coaches, along with a Blue Brakevan to match them. I bring up the Blue and White Coaches as they are seen constantly in Season 4 and even other seasons, I think all narrow Gauge engines (with maybe a few exceptions post Season...9 I think?), have been seen pulling them, and also they are quite similar to the standard livery for all Skarloey Railway Coaches (I believe) in the Railway Series, which means that they have greater potential to cater to Railway Series and TV Series fans alike...in my eyes at least...

Large Scale...honestly Bachmann caught me very off guard with Winston, and as a result of such a "curve-ball" I guess one could say, I don't really know what to expect for 2016...so I'll leave the predictions for Large Scale to those who seem to be traditionally better at predicting items, or seem to have more insight into it then I do.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

Frankly, I'm glad they have this piece of rolling stock. For one thing, no one would have to either customize a regular mail car or buy a utility wagon elsewhere. Plus, if I obtain one, I'm totally going to use it for a Flying Kipper van.

But I will note how it's green. Bachmann seems to like green rolling stock (Troublesome Trucks #3 and #4, anyone?) ;)
That last point is a connection I have been trying to make, but never did until you mentioned it, good pick up DinoNTrains :) for me at least it seems like a good "Flying Kipper...esque" wagon, albeit if I were to use it I'd love to weather it down a bit for Flying Kipper use, but honestly I think it forms a good utility wagon too, so if I get one I think I'll leave it untouched...or at least my first one untouched. If I get more I would like to turn them into CCT vans fit for use on "The Flying Kipper". But hey, that's just me :)

I am purely and whole heartedly astonished that they managed to give him, what looks like a completely open cab. Whilst all the details are amazing, this is the one I think is purely the most astonishing of them all...given even Bachmann's model of James does not even have an open cab, it's amazing that this detail made it onto Skarloey, along with some of the other details too, and to see just how far Bachmann have come since the first 3 models.
Best wishes,
~Alex
