Williams by Bachmann / Re: WBB GP30 Coming?

Fred,

We have tried undecorated items in the past with Williams and Bachmann has made them as well in other scales. Except for a few items, they do not sell well.  The majority of our customer base wants completely decorated and ready to run items.

Seaboard,
Your starting voltage on your power supply must be higher than those on the market today.  Most start at 0 volts and you can crawl on start-up.  This sounds systems works as soon and the loco begins to move without any battery.

Lee,

A GP39?? Really?  We have to be able to recoup our tooling money, and that model is way too limited. Only 23 built.

The GP35 may be a possible future project.

Bucky,

I have never seen anyone offer a B unit with internal lighting.  The booster units were unmanned an rarely had any lights on except when servicing them.  If you want to do this you would need to order 1 or 2 roller assemblies and a light socket assembly from our parts department.  You would have to make a bracket of some sort to mount the socket.

The BL2 will easily run on O-27 track.  Take the loco off of the track and pivot each truck by hand. If it has some resistance in one direction, the wires are probably secured too tightly.  Remove the body shell and pull a little slack in the wire.

Hi Lee,

They are at least 15 years old.  We don't have historical records for all of the numbers and many of the number were used for a long time.

We are waiting for an updated production schedule and will advise soon.

All of the brass locomotives were one-time production items. The Big Boy and Challenger were made again in 1995 by a different manufacturer.  Williams only received a small amount of replacement parts for these locomotives. At that time Williams had a 1 year warranty for the original owner. Williams ran out of replacement parts around 1999.  Unfortunately we can not service these locomotives because they are difficult to ship without the risk of getting damaged and we have no parts for them.  The only possibility of getting any original replacement parts would be from Frank Vacek.  He was the former repair person for Williams.  His phone number is 410-465-3782.

Dear All,

We had once planned to make a sound unit for the passenger cars, but the project was cancelled.  The factory continued to add the socket and label the car for an additional production run. So there are a good number of these cars out there.

Dear All,

If is is not in the catalog it is not in the line this year.  Some items will take a break, but it does not mean that we will never make them again.  Check around because many dealers still have some in stock.

Earl,

You are correct this is a problem with the CW80.  It only happens with steam locos because the light bulb goes through a voltage regulator.  An easy solution is to use a lighted lock-on or wire one of your house lights on your layout to the track.  For the light going off in neutral, take the shell off and plug the regulator board into the other 2 wire socket on the reverse board.  It sounds like it was plugged into the slave motor plug instead of the accessory socket on the board.

Ron,

They are out of the line for this year, but that does not mean that they are gone for good.  There should still be adequate supply for the missing ones at dealers.

Boston & Maine had 2 F-3 units and this is one of the paint schemes that they wore.
