What I would like to see is a separate board for all the "I wants".  But, I guess that's about as likely as B'mann satisfying a lot of these requests.

Yeah, but those raised numbers on the front board are a pain in the you know what, as is trying to avoid a total repaint and still ending up with a nice looking locomotive.  I have not had the best of luck removing numbers a la Q-tip.  Rivarossi paint is really tough too, unless they have changed it.

Or, how about a collection of nostalgic special Tyco tools !?  I found a good deal on one ! :'(

I think now people are just trying to rake muck by continuing to bring up Tyco.  Those who cherish it; more power to you.  Have you looked on ebay?  they have tons of Tyco stuff, and a lot of it is really rare (if you doubt it just look).

Alcohol promotes the wicking action of the glue/water mixture, and dries quickly, and doesn't hurt anything on our models.  70% refers to the alcohol concentration in the bottle.  You could use ethanol and take a snort if you care to, but isopropyl is widely available and much cheaper.

I knew Phoebus and Hampton had stations, and there was a trolley line to Buckroe Beach.  Did the train have to go from Ft. Monroe area to NN area and run around the yard loop by the piers to get headed the right way out of town?  I looked up some old maps and all I could see was that track branching off the Westbound line running over there.

Seeing as how my daughter is an architect in the Hampton Roads area, I would have to abstain from voting.  I never realized they had a passenger station anywhere near Ft. Monroe.

Look back over this thread.  If you were a manufacturer would you have a clue what Pacific to make, should you even decide to make one?  I wouldn't, other than maybe a Ps-4 in green and another unlettered in black.  I'm glad one is all I need and I have one that is "good enough" for that.
I do need an N&W 4-8-0 though...

If your loco is spitting out cinders that size, you have a BIG problem.  It is supposed to be coal you can sprinkle on the tender deck.

My Spectrum 4-8-2 Heavy has an LED, not a bulb.  It was blue, and I changed it to a yellow-white.

The two cabs are different lengths, not two different numbers.  Where did you get the idea there were two different numbers?  If they had some sense they would make an undecorated version and sell a few to VGN modelers.  Oh, and hang a reasonable price tag on it, too.

Nope.  Already seen plenty of USRA engines, and way too many Pennsys, as you noted.  Face it, they are not going to do anything specific.  But, since famous may make a difference, I would think someone would at least do Southern 1401.

One issue may be that people want expert help when they need it.  Now, in spite of those who take everything on this forum and other such places as gospel, some people may feel that real DCC "experts" are not that prolific.  Places like Tony's and Litchfield have a hard earned reputation, AND good prices.
Wal Mart is only doing a decent business in computer peripherals.  I don't think folks think they are going to get much tech support there.
Or it could be that they have a clientele with a whole lot of old guys like me, who have been in it for 35 years, not just a short while, who are not wowed by the latest "technology" in this instance, and have never asked the first question about it, and are almost a sure bet to never buy any of it from them, even if they do decide to take the leap.

HO / Re: Lift out - HO scale
February 24, 2007, 04:48:50 AM
I once had a lift out.  Trust me, any type of hinged section is better.  Just be sure to wire in an automatic power disconnect on any type brige or removable section.  I prefer a horizontal gate type, but be sure you angle the ends so you have clearance as it swings.  I do not try to control alignment strictly with the hinges either, I use tapered dowels or shelved mating joints and draw latches to handle that last little bit.

Watch out you do not burn yourself, or get any long plastic melted stringers near any of your track or equipment.  Seriously.
