Howdy,

For the heat shrink tubing can you get the larger stuff and use it on the smaller gauge, or do you need to match it ?  Thanks !

Dear Friends,

Would suggest the EBT for the Fall Spectacular.  Usually nice weather and fun to get up REAL close.  Saturday pm is the fireworks show, and it is a good one.  Last year's show had very hot days and cold nights, brilliantly clear and a nice fireworks viewing.  Great for kids, very relaxed.  Good spaghetti dinner Sat pm.

Best Wishes,

Jack

Dear Dallas,

Not to hijack your thread, but my dos centavos.

My experience is with a 10 year old Aristo 2-4-2 Rogers.  Beautifully running engine.  Traction tires were toast in about 30 min of running when new.  Since then I have run it without the traction tires.  Runs beautifully.  With a long string of cars I will get wheel slip if I start too fast.  So what ?  I just take her out slowly and she still pulls nicely.  Just like the real thing.  Very satisfied with the operation.  Hope your LGB is a great runner.

Best Wishes,

Dear Friends,

BaltoOhioRRfan's post got me thinking about an early Wednesday am gang doing trackwork on the NS main line.  There were about 30 or 40 work cars at least a half mile long, in orange color, all "dipsy doodle" looking, sort of like the New Bright Christmas cars, replacing cross ties, ballast and alignment.  They were fired up, belching smoke with a bustle of activity, sort of like a C---ese Fire Drill.  I am just sorry I did not have my digital camera to video it.  Quite impressive to little kids, as some of us are when around trains !

Best Wishes,

Dear Friends, Mr. Lynch et al,

With the tooling on hand, I would like to buy an Indy, or three !  Just love those little pullers !  Of course, marketing and economics prevail.  Just my two centavos.

Dear Nut,

Welcome news.  My boys and I routinely drive by the Duncansville office of the Everett RR to look at the stuff they have parked on the sidings.  Nice little business, 26 miles of track that serves local industries, e.g. Smith Trucking, local manufacturing, etc.  They also run local excursions spring, summer and fall.

Good luck and if ever in Altoona, get in touch for some rail fanning or coffee.

I am aware of the Red Arrow wreck.  Until last week when I found the Pennington site on the Ghost Town link, I did not know it was Pennington.  Most Pennsylvania geology is sedimentary and Carboniferous Era (Pennsylvanian-Mississippian), that is to say roughly 360-286 mya.

There are a bunch of old timers around at our local train club who are quite expert regarding the RA wreck, some of whose fathers were part of the recovery crew.

Early this afternoon, I will take a quick side trip to the Pitcairn site you mentioned several weeks ago, on the way to visit my Mother in Boston.

Best Wishes,
