Perhaps it's best to take this discussion over to the 2016 thread. This thread is outdated and served it's purpose.

Can you please stop quoting every post you reply to? Most of the time, it's unnecessary and just clogging up the forum.

Honestly, I think it's best for Bachmann to focus on expanding their existing markets, I think Bachmann is fine where it's at.

I know this isn't possible, but if they do a new scale.
How about this?
Arlesdale??

I'm not sure what scaling it would be though. I think Z scale.

Thomas & Friends / Re: HO Winston for 2016/2017
November 04, 2015, 10:11:09 PM
Well, I think Winston in HO/OO might be possible.  :)
Bachmann is releasing Wickham Trolleys in their Branchline Range of the UK market.

Winston is a Wickham Trolley. Notice that both chassis are almost similar.

I would say that while Bachmann is targeting their range towards a younger audience, they've broadened it's aimed appeal without needing to go outside of their target demographic.

The kids are enjoying the returning classic characters. Heck, my nephew asked if I've had a Bachmann Duck. (Which I don't).
While there's a handful CGI characters that are widely appealing to the older fans. (e.g Paxton, Hiro.)

For Classic Characters they just need Daisy and Boco to fill the HO/OO marketing gap.

The Red Coaches have been released already. So I feel a thread like this is outdated and served it's purpose. There really is no point in bringing this thread back.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Bachmann Oliver thread!
October 30, 2015, 02:02:29 PM
Brought this thread back.

Just a thought.

I'm thinking that Oliver's scaling and proportions would be based off a real 14xx, rather then both his TV model or CGI render.

Where his CGI render is undersized, and TV model seems to be overscale.

Please give some feedback.

OK now on my thoughts' on S19 Christmas

'Diesel's Ghostly Christmas' is how to start off S19 Christmas, Well from my first impression I've thought Diesel was gonna was gonna have a nightmare and be visited by spirits of scrapped engines. But it doesn't mean it's bad. I actually had a laugh at the engines disguised as Ghosts, especially Paxton, he won me over in this ep, and I loved his 4th wall moment. :D There was a flashback of "Diesel Does it Again." Quite a surprise, but kinda nice to see Whiff again. Also it's great to see Emily pull one of her signature coaches again.
Paxton was the highlight.

'Snow Place like Home' Out of the CGI NG characters, Victor is my favorite out of all of them, and I'm liking how he's and Kevin are like Father and Son. I actually thought Kevin's potrayal in this ep was kinda cute. I've thought Victor's portrayal was great. He hates the snow, but puts on a snowplow and goes out to searching for Kevin when he goes missing. Victor was given great character development.

'The Beast of Sodor' Even though Henry is portrayed as his cowardly persona, I do like the character development that was given to him. Even though Henry may not actually have a definitive character. I've usually seen Henry's character as cynical and sarcastic, but hardworking and somewhat sentimental. However I really think they need to tone down the STH/TFC humor, especially the slapstick, I feel that it's overstaying its welcome.

I didn't think 'A Cranky Christmas' was a bad episode but it's pretty dull tbh. I do like Salty singing Christmas songs and him with decorations, and some of the TAB soundtrack bits, but I don't find the ep inself engaging.

Not sure what to say about how the ep will turn out, but look who's in the clip.

I'm gonna post my thoughts on the Christmas eps later when my homework is out of the way.

Murdoch, Arthur, and I personally think Molly would do good for a CGI makeover.

These characters have proven to serve a purpose,

Murdoch could help Hiro with the Heavy Goods Traffic, they would make a great duo.
Arthur has his own branchline, and already rendered in CGI. Plus would make a decent play-off character.
Molly, I think would of been a better choice than Rosie for a transition into CGI. She does have a contrast personality, a beautiful design and livery.

These characters are normal designs, rather having a quirky appearance, "E.G; Stephen, Gator" or driven by gimmicks like "Marion or Skiff."
Not that these characters are bad, I will say that they have bags of character, even Marion being one of my favorite characters. But it would at least be nice to see "Normal" engines every now and then, and we have with Ryan.

Murdoch, Arthur, Molly, and Ryan are normal designs with unique liveries to help them contrast.

As for Rosie, I never particularly liked her. Despite how cool her prototype is, it's clear that the writers at the time just made her to appeal to girls, which ended up much like the Girls Train by Lionel in 1957 - it didn't work. I personally don't find anything to like about her as a character, maybe because her first episode left a lot to be desired... So yeah, I'd pick Rosie.
Funny thing is that Rosie's toys seem to be decent sellers going from what I've read on Amazon reviews. But that seems to be her purpose. I don't find her annoying, but I could see why others would. It's probably because of shipping fanfics, I assume. Must I go even further.  :P

I personally am okay with Charlie now, since he has a purpose, and I can tolerate him much more now because of that.
Same here, and after thinking about it, I actually wouldn't mind having a Bachmann Charlie, tbh. ::)

On the other end of the scale, and I know I'm going to get a lot of criticism for this, but going back to season 9, I find Molly a very underrated character, and could easily see her with a purpose if they brought her back.
Unlike Neville (who did absolutely nothing in his episode, and I could barely care less about) and even Dennis, Molly had rather distinctive character traits - being shy, insecure, and sensitive, but kind and well mannered. I guess it helped that her only episode was one of the few season 9 episodes that didn't stink. I could easily see her as an extra to help Edward on his branch line and help with some of the heavier freight trains. Plus, that her basis is one of my favorite designs in the Thomas world. It looks beautiful. Plus, aside from Bill and Ben, there aren't many engines painted yellow.
I actually agree about Molly after thinking about it. She has some contrast in her personality. With Neville, it's kinda a shame that his oppertunity was wasted, considering that his design is 100% pure realism, design and livery, and his basis in real life has a ton of character to it. Same with Dennis. However with Molly, I think she could of been used to her full potential. Her basis is elegant and not anything quirky or really gimmick driven, and her livery is really smart and is unique to the color spectrum, like Ryan being purple. I think Molly has potential for a CGI render. I've said that I wouldn't buy any of the S9-12 characters except for Rocky, Rosie, Stanley, and Whiff. However, a model of Molly would actually be a character I actually would be fond of buying.  :)

With Charlie and Rosie, it would be no doubt that they have nice basis and designs.

Charlie, for a small tank engine has so much beautiful detailing. Plus he has a unique livery :P

Rosie, however I will admit, her basis is a personal favorite of mine.

Even though they aren't my top characters, I would have them because I think they would go great in a Thomas themed Shunting Yard.

However with characters outside of the classic era there's more intriguing characters such as: Paxton, Timothy, or even Ryan.

I think I'm personally fine with the characters in the show right now.

The Logging Locos won't seem to be appearing anymore, the Misty Island tunnel seems to be boarded up.
Charlie is in the Shunting Yard, along with Rosie, Stanley, Stafford. The Shunting Yard in the show is now like literally a dumping ground.
Belle/Flynn, even though I'm not a fan of them. It's no doubt that they're very appealing to children. My nephew and niece find Belle to be their favorite toy, they often carry her around with them, and their friends enjoy her as well. :P  It's at least a good thing that they've been used more logically, compared to the previous era.

I'm loving how the new intro has a much broader variety of characters both Classic and CGI outside the Core Cast. I even find the new Roll Call much more bearable than the original.

As for Percy's New UK Voice, I'm actually liking it, it really defines Percy, much more than Keith Wickham, even though he's a talent voice actor.
Gordon, Henry, Edward, Skarloey, which I think are his best ones, they really need to lighten his load a bit. The voices he's doing aren't really contrasting

E.G: Bert (Arlesdale), and Sir Handel's voices aren't interesting.
