HO / Ditch Lights
August 07, 2009, 08:53:10 PM
This may seem like a stupid or obvious question but I am a true beginner.

Is it possible to put ditch lights on a DC locomotive?
If so, what kind are they and where can I get them?

Thanks,
Cody

HO / Industries for the new layout
August 05, 2009, 07:10:10 PM
I know that I have been posting a lot on here these past few days and I'm sorry for that.

I am building my first model railroad. It is BNSF right after the merger in 1997. The layout will take place in Northwest United States. I am looking to build a good bit of industries for a lot of switching opportunities. But the problem is that living in Ohio, I don't know what kind of industries are in the Northwest. It would be greatly appreciated if you had any ideas for industries.

thanks,
Cody

HO / DC layouts
August 04, 2009, 09:23:46 PM
Me being a 13 year old and not having enough money to go to DCC, I operate DC. I am building a new layout with lots of industries to switch and my only engine I have now is a Bachmann BN SD40-2 and I want another engine to do the switching. Is there any way to have two seperate circuits but make it look like one operation?

Thanks,
Cody

HO / Vacuuming Rail
June 30, 2009, 01:08:01 PM
I run my trains on my floor and I use Bachmann EZ Track. Even though it is still elevated off of my floor it still gets hairs and stuff like that from the carpet on it making it hard for my trains to run and getting hair wrapped around the axle. I was wondering if I could use one of the attachments from my vacuum to vacuum the track to get all of the hair off without hurting the track.
Can I do this?

thanks,
Cody

HO / Dynamic Brakes
June 08, 2009, 09:39:15 PM
I have been shopping for a new locomotive and in the "features" section of some locomotives it says that some locos are equipped with dynamic brakes. How do dynamic brakes work on model trains?

Thanks,

General Discussion / GE BQ23-7
June 06, 2009, 09:43:55 PM
In my [American] opinion the GE BQ23-7 is the ugliest locomotive ever built for American railroads.  It looks alot like a foreign locomotive (which are very un-attractive in my opinion).

BQ23-7 Link:

Random UK Locomotive:

How do you guys feel about the attractiveness or the un-attractiveness of the BQ23-7?

HO / Life-Like ATSF #3500
May 24, 2009, 12:31:12 PM
I have just recently pulled out a life-like ATSF HO scale warbonnet diesel loco from my grandma's closet. This train set is from about 1984. I tried to run it on it's original track but didn't run. I then took it home and ran it on my bachmann track but it had some problems. I then decided to make it a dummy since I model the ATSF. The back truck rolls freely but the front truck (with the motor) doesn't.  Does anyone know how to make the front truck move freely without tearing the whole loco apart.

General Discussion / Maryland Railfanning
May 23, 2009, 10:28:16 PM
I would like to warn you that this post is not about model railroading!

For anyone in the Maryland area,
Does anyone know any railfanning hot spots for railroads such as:
Maryland Midland, Norfolk Southern, and CSX.

Thanks for your information,
Cody Jackson
