HO / Bachmann Spectrum 2-10-2 DCC Problem
July 22, 2012, 08:21:15 PM
I have an undecorated version of the above locomotive, with on-board DCC and sound. From the box, the sound responds to the throttle setting as expected, but the loco has two speeds, stop and full speed ahead, even on speed step 1 (of 128).
Any idea what I could do to correct this?

HO / Bachmann DCC decoders in Bachmann DC-ready locos
February 20, 2009, 07:20:19 PM
I have 4 Bachmann DCC-ready engines;
   K4-s 4-6-2 #84014
   Light mountain 4-8-2 #81607
   Consolidation 2-8-0 #11412
   Decapod 2-10-0 #81705

I purchased 4 Bachmann E-Z Command 1 Amp decoders with 8-pin NMRA plug at the WGH Show in Nashville last weekend. (Great show, by the way!)

There has been much written about problems with installing decoders in the early DCC-ready engines. Is this still true when using the Bachmann decoders? If anyone knows of such problems and ways around them, I'd be very appreciative.

HO / Re: DCC & sound conversion
January 11, 2009, 10:11:07 AM
I've started a detailed comparison of the exploded diagrams of the DCC-ready and DCC/sound-equipped Russian decapods. My thought was to buy those parts that differ directly from Bachmann to convert the older model to match the newer.Same thing with the consolidation, light mountain and K4.
Is this worth doing?

HO / DCC & sound conversion
January 10, 2009, 07:56:12 PM
I have a number of Bachmann Spectrum steam locomotives, all 'DCC-ready'. Is it feasible to purchase the components used in current production Bachmann DCC and Sound-equipped locos to upgrade the older models? My club is converting to DCC, and I have to take some action if I want to run my equipment.
