HO / Re: 3 truck climax gears

Thanks Bill, but no, this is the 70 ton Three Truck Climax (Product N0. 82929).  I no longer have the engine since Bachmann kept it when they sent the substitute engine.  Just wondering what I could have done since it was under warranty (less than 1 year old).

HO / 3 truck climax gears
December 29, 2015, 04:14:05 PM
Has anyone else had a 3 truck climax dcc with sound have the gears fail and were able vto get it fixed?  I got one in October of 2014 and had it fail shortly after I got it.  Sent it in to Bachman and after almost a year they finally told me that they couldn't get the parts to fix it.  I was offered a choice of lesser engines like the Pennsy mogul I finally accepted (reluctantly) as a replacement.  Since the 3 truck climax made sounds but wouldn't move, I'm assuming the gears failed.  Why can't they get parts to fix this engine?  I had several conversations with Michael Murphy at Bachman's repair center in PA and the bottom line is he just couldn't get the parts to fix it.  I had paid $240 for the Climax, but ended up with a $160 mogul.  Not a good trade-off in my book.  Anyway, can this engine be fixed at all? :(

HO / Re: EM1 sound module not working

Problem solved!  It seems they replaced the tender with a new one at the repair center.  This one seemed alright at first, but when I removed the clips holding down the contacts for the speaker, the yellow wire had been pushed through too far.  The result was the insulation and not the wire was in contact with the board.  Once I fixed this, the sound worked fine.  The module was fine, just some poor QC at the factory on the tender.

Reset CV8 to 8 with module removed. Engine ran on Address 3 fine.  Reinstalled sound module, set back on track and powered up.  Still no sound on loco as loco 3.  All wires appear to be intact.  Beginning to believe sound module may be bad.

HO / EM1 sound module not working
August 27, 2014, 07:04:36 PM
I recently sent an EM1 in to Bachmann for repair of a sheared off wire on the connector from the tender.  Before I sent it, I removed the sound module because I had heard that sometimes they can forget to send the sound module back. When I got it back it worked fine but when I reinstalled the sound module, it wouldn't work. I was careful to not bend any of the pins when inserting it and it seated fine but I have no sound.  Could the sound module now be bad?
