Title: F7A Engine capbilites N gauge
Post by: Icemann04 on January 05, 2025, 11:48:48 PM
Newbie here and I have a somewhat silly question. How much rolling stock can you safely put behind this engine.
                                       Thank you in advance.

There's nothing dangerous about a locomotive trying to pull more cars than it can.  It will spin its wheels if it's too light, or stall if it's very heavy.

It's been many years since I was in N scale. I had a couple of Bachmann F7s, and as I recall they were respectable pullers. When we set up our Ntrak modules at train shows, one F7 would pull about 15-20 cars of level track. It did a bit less on my home layout with 3% grades, but still held its own among the various Atlas, LifeLike and KAto units I had.
