Title: New 4-4-0's? Maybe??
Post by: BocoFan4 on January 03, 2025, 04:58:12 PM
Now bachmann hasn't made 4-4-0's in a long while and I feel that they should bring them back with a new line up of liveries and a remade mechanism along with one or two sets to go along with them.
So what do you all think about a new batch of 4-4-0's?

A nice new loco with DCC on board .. or a nice 'free' running loco with powered combine/boxcar dcc on board , to propel the loco and following cars .

A weighted locomotive with a tender drive and DCC+speaker in a following carriage, or DCC+speaker in the loco and a weighted following carriage.
AT A REASONABLE PRICE.
Nobody is going to buy it for $400-500, and then you get to use the "well we did but nobody bought it" excuse to never do it again.

Hi all,

Sorry to disappoint, but it will likely be some time before we can offer a new run of 4-4-0s. We do not plan to produce another tender drive locomotive; they have always caused reliability issues with the exposed driveshaft between the locomotive and tender. As of right now, a motor that is small enough to fit inside the boiler of the 4-4-0 and operate at the same voltage as all other N scale locomotives hasn't been developed yet. If the technology advances, we may be able to revisit the 4-4-0 in the future.
