Title: It's that time of year again...................
Post by: John Tumolo on December 19, 2024, 05:37:58 PM
I started this several years ago and it didn't help, but here goes again......
Sing it with me now... "All I want for Christmas is a 2-6-2  a 2-6-2  a 2-6-2" With any luck the Bach Man is out there........also dreaming of Maine 2-foot Prairies.  Merry Christmas to you all.  John Tumolo  [email protected]

I would love to see a re-issue of Porters, 0-4-0 or 0-4-2 or both. Also, a re-issue of the little Davenport Gas-Mechanical, except this time with metal gears, or even just a metal gear upgrade kit so that I could keep mine running. Oh, and some more passenger cars, both 40' and 20'. Merry Christmas to all.

Curiosity got the best of me, took a look at my "HASKELL"  OF 2-6-2T, if the side tanks & rear bunker are removed, add a 2-6-0 tender, It is not SR&RL #23, only photo I could find is the BRECON MOUNTAIN RLY 12 inch to 1 foot being built in England. Domes would need to be removed or moved, smoke box would need to be shortened to come close to #23.

I've looked at the Haskell as well-it's the closest I've seen to possibly building the Prairie I've always dreamed of.  I keep hoping Bachmann will be able to modify one of their existing On30/HO Spectrum steam locomotive drive trains to come up with a reasonable Maine-style Prairie.  I think using part of the On30 2-6-6-2 would make a great start-my copy of that long articulated loco has been running on my layout for a long time and is still very reliable-a smooth quiet runner that would make a fantastic running base for a 2-6-2.  The closest I've come to the look of a Maine-style outside frame Prairie is my modified Bachmann Outside Frame 4-4-0 created by the late great Alan Carroll who replaced the stock cab with one from a 2-4-4-2 or 2-6-6-2 to give it that Maine-style hunkered down look.  I believe in Bachmann and think they could deliver a credible locomotive, if only they could sell enough to make it worth the effort and financial investment.  I know I'm good for at least 3...........

I will always contend that an Army S118 2-8-2 would be a home run for Bachmann. Many were built in WW2 and used all over the world. Several are still running.
I'd also love to see (Lee Riley's favorite) ten-wheeler get put back in production...

Missouri Pacific 1010 class 2-8-0.  T&NO Harriman Mogul and consolidation.

It's probably good if I don't hold my breath till they come out. 😂😂😂
