Hello Everyone,
I ran across this interesting Steam Locomotive in a local hobby shop: Bachmann (Made in Hong Kong) 4-8-8-4 New York Central #4005 Coal Tender #6008. I scooped it up with the intent of full restoration and getting her back on the track.
I reached out to Bachmann corporate and they couldn't come up with the information I was looking for (e.g. When was the model locomotive in production?, are there any spare parts available for purchase?, any engineering or "exploded" drawings and part's list available for purchase?): No luck. I read on the forum and tried Walthers advanced search: no luck.
I thought I'd try this approach before I start "reverse engineering" this Big-Boy/Odd duck. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Sabre_3,
The tender is from an old Bachmann New York Central 4-8-4 Niagara locomotive from the 1980s. The locomotive, however, is a Union Pacific Big Boy from another manufacturer (probably AHM/Rivarossi.) Bachmann has never made that locomotive.
Many thanks Yard Master!
This makes sense. All the research I was doing on the 4-8-8-4 #4005 pointed to a Union Pacific.
Gotta tip my cap to the previous owner!
Now the fun begins: honing in on the proper manufacture, testing, refurbishing and Restoration!
Thank you for pointing me down the right track (pun intended) ;)
Semper Fi!
