Title: G2-4-2 plastic side rods
Post by: rchawk49 on November 17, 2007, 10:40:57 PM
Hi all, I picked up a very clean (nib) G2-4-2 loco recently. I would like to replace the plastic side rods with metal. Any ideas, Buhler, anybody? ???
Thanks, Rich

There are no metal rods available for the 2-4-2, you would have to make your own.

Barry's Big Trains has metal rods for the Bachmann G 4-6-0 however,
but not the 2-4-2.

Thanks Scot,
I e-mailed Barry's, and was told that no metal rods were available. Looks like I will be in the shop with a file for a while. ::)

You might have that engine in the shop for more than new siderods. They were not among Bachmann's better products.

I have re-worked several older Bachmann LS locomotives with plastic bits.
I found a Pactra paint called "steel" took away the gray plastic appearance and made them look a bunch better.
