Those kits are really cool..!! I've built quite a few of them over the years to match a few that I inherited from my ol' man. They are over 60 years old... :)
That's how things looked when I started.
Yeah, I remember when those kits were "state of the art". Somewhere I still have an old Main Line reefer that was decorated for the NMRA's Mid-Eastern Region as a convention car, from about 1963. Also built some LaBelle and Westwood passenger cars. In fact, I still have the Westwood 2-car Ma and Pa set - RPO and coach - to go with my two Bachmann 4-4-0's (No. 4 and No. 6).
Those LaBelle kits still hold their own-Ambroid too, for that matter. I remember when my buddy Ted had a bunch of that stuff, and I had squat! That Ambroid express reefer 'Great Northern" particularly grabbed me. I have three now...As well as a few Labelle passenger cars. Brings back some memories of when this stuff had operating prototypes!
