Title: DCC question
Post by: davevid on September 03, 2007, 08:05:02 AM
I own several Bachmann trains and I'm looking to go DCC.  One train is already DCC equipped, the Item # 83506,  8-40CW Diesel Loco, but I have (2) Russian Decapod 2-10-0 Locos, Item # 81702 which says DCC ready and the Item # 81707 which doesn't mention DCC.  I'm guessing I need to buy a mobile decoder for the DCC ready.  Am I ready to go with the DCC onboard Diesel? Any suggestions on which decoder to buy? Thanks in advance.

Dear Dave,
The DCC Onboard is ready to go. The decapod takes a decoder in the tender. You also need a DCC system. Our EZ Command is the least expensive, but it will not program decoders. It might be a good introductory system for you.
Have fun!

Most DCC manufactures have on the web sites a recomended decoder list.  There are also several on line DCC hobbie shops that have lists.

If you have a local hobby shop that has several lines of DCC, talk to them.

No one systen is best for every one.  If you have other model railroaders in you area see what they use and try them out.
